Hi, I have painted many kitchens. You definitely need to clean and prime well first. Then remove doors to paint them as easier if they are laid flat, use a brush for any mouldings and then a mini-gloss roller for main coats as it produces the best finish. 2-3 coats should do it. For the internal front parts of the cupboards that will show behind the doors, again clean and prime. Depending on access, the mini roller can also be used and creates a neat finish. There used to be a really good primer around called something like liquid sandpaper, which primed the surfaces. But nowadays painting cabinets is much more common so you have a wider option of primers. In terms of paint, I do think oil based is far better than water based as it does not chip easily. It means longer waiting times between coats but is well worth it. If you use water-based you will have to retouch at some point. F&B eggshell has nice colours but is water based now and just not tough enough. You can get any colour you want matched by Dulux and their trade eggshell is not shiny and as tough as nails. I would not bother using a first coat of another paint, just go straight on with the Downpipe shade. Good luck, it should look lovely.

The only good pictures I could find were from when we placed the kitchen (we're messy people, lol). The kitchen is 2.3x1.4m and we've adjusted some cabinets ourselves (hence the vent pipe). It was fun to look at these photo's, because at the time I was halfway pregnancy and it was a hot summer. I remember grouting the tiles and the countertop felt nice and cool on my belly. The countertop is secondhand, since we blew our budget on double mortgage (hadn't sold the other home yet), a bathroom and some new windows and insulation. I was thrilled to find a small L with the (nearly) exact spots for sink and cooktop, just a tad bit too long on both sides, which was perfect for us! We had to help gut their kitchen and paid €500 for everything. Resold their appliances for about €300, used the old handles and dumped the cabinets. Bargain! This is an inbetween :) (built in 1950 I suppose this house has had several kitchens) The old kitchen! And where that wall used to be (see photo above), we made a peninsula with 100cm tall upper cabinets and an old workbench top: And we've used Veddinge doors under a desk next to the dining table, opposite the kitchen:

Hi. I have ordered a cashmere kitchen. The kitchen is quite small but very light, though it will be quite crowded as we are definitely having an island . I can't send an image as it hasn't been installed yet. My question is about the flooring. What did you choose in the end and have you liked all your choices?

With the flooring, how about slate effect porcelain flooring (grey)? With the splashback I think green always looks nice with cream, but that will depend on your wall colour. Shell like hexagonal tiles are rather beautiful too.
