Need help for my small living/dining room with awkward layout
Comments (10)Hi. It's hard to tell if this will work as I can't tell the door width but what if you were to build a ŵall to wall bookcase on the desk ŵall incorporating both the tv and radiator? Ignore the design of this one, was just showing a pic of one against a window, You may need to widen the pillar by the dining room entrance slightly. Perhaps ammonite by F&B for the ŵalls with a floor that picks up one of the tones in the table. I'd also paint the coving in the ammonite and a darker shade of grey for the bookcase. Have a 6ft sofa (allowing for side table and lamp) opposite the bookcase (not against the ŵall) with a chair angled in front of the bookcase and perhaps go for an upholstered stool on legs as per your inspiration pic. You could use Romans on the windows, maybe in a vertical stripe and then use geo patterns for the cushions. Re lights I'd add ŵall lights to the bookcase and a flush for the living room, preferably just 7 inches high. You can afford to hang something lower over the dining table. Are you keeping the tall cabinet? I think your current table will look lovely with some upholstered chairs...See Moredesign layout....need help with where we should have the living room

Comments (4)Congrats on your new home? Are the two sofa's something you have already? If you so you can consider re-positioning these so that one is facing the fireplace and the other in front of the window and facing the other blank wall. The wall with the fireplace is the first thing you see when you come into the room, it could be an opportunity to put some nice artwork or some floating shelves, rather than a TV. Your TV can then be placed on the blank wall to its right. (please see attached sketch) It might be a bit funny placing the TV opposite a window, so you could consider adding some floor to ceiling sheer curtains. This would soften up the room, as well as create a nicer tone of light into the room. For this option, you could also consider placing a console/shelves behind the first sofa as you walk in, to avoid seeing the back of a sofa. However, if these sofa's are yet to be purchased, you could consider getting a larger sofa facing the TV and a chair to the side. This would open up the space significantly, and your living space will feel a lot larger. (see second sketch) Hope that is helpful. Comments (10)Hello! Wow! Thank you very much for your advice. So, there is a radiator on the right hand wall. That is where current owners put their tv. Not sure it will fit, will measure up soon hopefully. The TV could go on a smaller unit to be honest, and will make sure radiator is turned down! Just worried that there isn't enough room for a corner sofa there with the door to the hallway..(see photos on rightmove) I LOVE the idea of large mirrors either side of fireplace. Pinching that! ;) My current living room is decorated in shades of greys and lots of gold. Thinking of going navy and gold but not too sure. Sofa colours argh! Huge thanks I'm very grateful.
