White or Anthracite Grey Window/Bifold Door on Extension???
Comments (17)Sliding doors are proving very popular at the moment as they can stack to one side and not protrude into the garden space and be easier to move than full set of bi-folds so that would an approximate opening of about 4m with 3 x 1.250m (plus frame ) panel of glass that would all stack in parallel inline. Or you could try panoramic doors they are more versatile as they are detachable from each other and give you more options for you layout at the finish. There a tutorial on you tube ? Do you have building control on these works as I am finding that architects are making us use a lot more steel as in a goal post design for stability, depending on how wide you want to go with the opening?...See MoreUpvc or aluminium bifold doors/windows
Comments (8)Go for the cheapest option, it's only a door and a window. As you are planning to have alot done at the same time, spend your money wisely. You will already be adding value to your home by adding another room and off road parking. A developer wouldn't spend more on a renovation than they could recoup back on the sale. A friend had 2 electronic operated velux windows with rain sensors put in for their extension and they have never used them! As for their bi fold doors they have banned their children from using them! ( at a recent children's party, granny was in charge of opening and closing doors to let the kids in and out!) Their five grand door is too precious to be even used....See Moreshape of patio / indian sandstone
Comments (29)Love the circular detail in your patio, forzaitalia. I use cleaning vinegar (not sure if there's another English name for it, but it's basically a very strong vinegar that you should NOT use for food) to get rid of moss and algae on pavement. Don't know its effect on sandstone. But it kills off the green stuff, which is more effective than pressure washing it. You just spray it on and wait for it to die. Takes a couple of days. Doesn't return as quickly either. Also works on garden furniture....See Morewhat colour for a combination of timber & aluminium windows?
Comments (10)No we went for white “ash” (ie it has a grain rather than glossy) flush upvc (would have preferred wood but too expensive). It is a slightly off white which softens the look and we are delighted. I spent ages playing with photos of my house using Paint3D -I tried colours, with and without bars, changing size. In the end it was clear our windows had too many bars but the house lost character with plain windows. If braver we would probably have gone with the green Sonia has shown, but we’ve had a door that colour instead! But this is all personal taste-our neighbour managed to persuade conservation to allow a full makeover (anthracite windows with render) so it looks like a brand new house. Not my taste but he absolutely loves it and can’t understand why we haven’t followed suit. Yours is a beautiful house and could be as stunning as Sonias photos! Have you had your timber/alu and glass priced up yet?...See MoreB B
