Our little downstairs loo needs help
Comments (302)Hello folks! I haven't disappeared, just had whooping cough (yes, seriously!) with a garnish of gastric flu and torn muscles from coughing fits. So that has severely impeded our efforts (hubby's had it too, and it lasts around 3mths so we're not out of the woods yet!) with our new house (which I now describe as semi-derelict before we bought it) and so had no time/mental energy to properly get updated on what's been happening with you guys. Truth be told, I've started reading a few times & either got interrupted (mummy-ness) or fallen asleep, without finishing. I've missed this, but u guys, esp Monica & RoRo have been in my thoughts. Where to start?! I think I've taken in all that's happened in this thread since I went AWOL but might have missed some finer points. Monica, I'm so sorry to hear what u'v been through, with the RTA & the cowboy tiling / wallpapering on top! (& work always picks worst times to intensify - I just started on a Task Force this week, when shd really still be on sick leave). I mean, a marker?! Seriously?! Isn't it common knowledge / common sense to use a lightly applied pencil? Sounds like u r doing best thing by looking at it as a learning experience. Still, he deserves an honest review somewhere. Anyway, onwards and upwards, I'll look at the lounge link when I've finished this post. BTW I LOVE your artwork. Vivacious, bright and deep - is there an insight there? ;-) And RoRo, wow you've got a lot on your plate! We've been so frustrated with being held back on our projects by health, but u have taken on a bigger scale of project altogether, sounds like it's verging on municipal! U guys inspire me. :-) Thinking of starting a thread on our living room, it's the most 'civilised' room of the house so far, but I didn't take the north-facing position into account when I decided on a colour scheme of turquoise, grey and lime. (Doh!) So far I've made some headway on a concept I'm excited by, but it needs some tweaking so it doesn't feel 'cold' with the blue tone of the natural light. Are you up for sharing some of your thoughts on this??? Hope so. :-)...See Morea little help with my master bedroom
Comments (7)Hi I love the warm caramel colour on the walls! I think I would try to create an eye piece I.e softer headboard in maybe a tonal colour to the walls. I would also have a built in storage area where you have the chests in the triangular area, to maximise space/storage. A focal point would encourage the eye away from the window. As the space behind pillow area is limited, a bespoke/DIY headboard would work. I will look for photos, sorry I've not attached any yet. It's a good space to work with and the bed could be layered to look elegant and inviting....See MoreOur Little Home
Comments (1)Hi Tara Do you have any photos you can post (you can add them to a comment below) as it always helps to visualize the space....See MoreCrazy but it might just work, or just plain crazy?
Comments (33)Oops! Sorry guys, I completely forgot to update this! Well, we did it. We went for the bonkers cat wallpaper and invested in some 'for life' sofas. We used Martin and Parker in Derby. They make bespoke sofas for not much more that you would pay at Next or M&S at significantly better quality too. We couldn't do the room until we had the windows replaced, so it did take a bit of time as our window guy (Stuart Harrison, who was fantastic and has done an amazing job) was not able to do them until mid summer 2021. Here are some pics of the work and the final result. It is really scary with a big ol' hole in your house! Lovely new sashes with architrave. Sacrilege I know but we did go for plastic, but they are really well made and look good. Windows in so starting to do the woodwork Making sure we cannot see pale lines if the wallpaper shrinks! How the heck do we do these corners? Carefully! Nearly there. Now we need to remember how to do school trigonometry to put the curtain poles up in the bay. :D All done :) Different angle from the sofa. We found some lovely art deco style lamps to go either side of the sideboard. The new radiators we chose. Moving the radiators into the bay from the wall opposite was not hugely fun as we had to run the pipework through the cellar. Pipes all very much lagged though! The sofa fabric was from a designer duo in Wirksworth called Blackpop. Lovely ladies and glorious designs https://www.blackpop.co.uk. I am somewhat pleased that the pic of this sofa on their instagram account has the most amount of likes of any of their stuff! :D The leather on the chesterfield is so soft, it is lovely. Martin and Parker did them for us. https://www.martinandparker.co.uk/ For comparison with the original post pic. And here is an obligatory cat picture. :) It won't be to everyone's taste but we love it. The room is now cosy, warm and a genuine pleasure to be in. Thank you everyone for all the advice, support and comments. On to the kitchen next, just contacted you @OnePlan (Concept planners) on that. :)...See Moreminnie101
