Hi, This is a stunning feature and should definitely be shown off! Unfortunately, unless you speak with an expert you cannot be sure what the actual brick colour is; it may not even be red a brick. If you start working on the wall you may find loose pieces. Looking at the images, re-pointing might also be on the cards. My suggestion is to speak with a couple people in that line of work to get professional advice and costings prior to starting what may well turn out to be a bigger job than was anticipated. Hi I had the same dilemma with the dining part of my kitchen. I love the brick wall effect so decided to try a wallpaper as it's only a small wall. I'm really pleased with the results. It cost me just £9 for one roll from B & Q. You can only tell it's wallpaper by getting up close and touching it - before and after photos attached.

I cant speak for the technical aspects of it. I assume there must be a way to seal it. But in terms of visual, get some neatly stacked logs for display up against it and some wicker baskets to house some more and surround the woodburner with appropriate paraphernalia. Your furniture looks quite classic, and this shouldn't be hugely at odds with that.

I love exposed brick - here it is in my London flat, which is part of an 1870's semi detached house. Excuse the fact that it's a bit bare: it is about to be rented out, after me living there for 12 years (renovation was 8 years ago). I left some plaster up on the main hallway wall and painted it - it used to house a collection of African masks that have moved with me.
