pendant lighting help please!

Hi! I’m hoping for some advice with our lighting over the peninsula in our kitchen. We are in the midst of the build (not great under current circumstances!) but we need to decide what to do with pendant lighting over our peninsula. I’d really like some for the ambience but dh is against the idea as he feels they’d get in the way of the view out of ththe picture window. I’m hoping you can help us decide! On the peninsula wall we want to put a tv (the white rectangle) so my concern is whether the pendant lights will make it too busy? Any thoughts please?

I don't think it will be too busy, but it will be personal preference. Different people notice different things.

Why not have them put in and then if he finds them too distracting then have them removed? He'll probably forget they're there after a week!

I've recently purchased another Firstlight rise and fall pendant in brushed nickel. This is to go with the metallic fittings in the kitchen ie sockets and cupboard handles. This is in addition to the original antique brass pendant in the adjacent dining area. They are an excellent centrepiece for the price but personally I don't think they would work in groups. Also available in white. Sorry I can't provide a picture.

Hi Heidi, dependant on the style you are going for you could use a multi pendant ceiling rose positioned away from the RSJ. Then use ceiling hooks to fit in plaster board over the island

I'd maybe go for 2 lights instead of 3, generally I prefer things in threes but I think in this circumstance it would work well to have two?

I think 2, and closer together would look much better, the 3 in the pic look very far apart. How long is your island?

Are you having lots of downlights, it looks like that in the pic. Why do you need both?
