Ideas for Patio
Comments (2)Hey! I can't advise too much on the woodwork but I think a fresh coat of paint would give this a new lease of life! Maybe get some climbers to wrap themselves around the wood - white and green is a lovely light combination....See MoreAdventurous small patio ideas.
Comments (11)Hi. would you use a shower? It may be very expensive to run plumbing there and I'm guessing (!) you may also need council and leaseholder permission. I can't save pics as I have a poorly iPad but maybe google images of moroccan style courtyard for inspiration. I would have a self-contained water feature perhaps on the end wall if there isn't the floor space. Use mirrors on a ŵall to make it feel larger, I think you can get Moroccan outdoor ones. Moroccan encaustic tiles for the floor. If in budget a U shaped bench seat which you can add colourful cushions to when the weather permits, if not an all weather rattan sofa with a coffee table. If you want to use it all year round I would add a ŵall heater and a canopy of sorts with either fairy lights or moroccan lanterns. I'd also think about practicalities of gardening so I might be tempted to mix in a few faux plants.....See MorePatio wall - ideas needed please.
Comments (17)Carolina, I'm not sure our building regs people really knew about the rules for horizontal wires either but in the end they said they could be climbed like a ladder and wouldn't permit them. Annoying when I've seen photos of them used in lots of places, including commercial buildings & bordering much higher drops than we needed....See MorePatio ideas please
Comments (9)If replacing your patio is not something you want to consider, see if you can hire a Karcher hot washer from your local Hire shop and ask if they have a weed lance attachment for like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPH0qs_jKUA Research in Belgium has shown this to be one of the most efficient chemical free weed treatments for paving. If they don't have the special lance, the normal lance will do but turn the pressure down as you don't want to blast the mortar out from between the slabs. The temperature setting needs to be 95C at least. Looking at what you have there, it is the original old ex-council crazy paving, there is no sign of subsidence in the photos, so the substrate is good and well laid, it should last for decades. As councils no longer use these heavy slabs, as far as I know this material is no longer available but they were made to last....See MoreUser
