Hi, I'm currently going through the same issue, Trying to find the right combo of paints to paint the hallway. I am looking to panel the part beneath the dado to prevent the ever so frustrating scuffing which occurs at sharp corners and am unsure on the colour combo. I was considering grey and white too but I'm scared that it may make the space feel too cold and dull especially as the only light will be through the door which won't be much. What colour combo's would you recommend to make the space feel luxurious and modern, yet not too clinical and cold?? I'd like the paint to be dulux preferably. what is the quality of Valspar paint like, I've seen it at DIY stores but don't know if it reaches standard of dulux? any reviews?? thanks

Hi - Both colours belong to the Yellow Hue Family. Portland Stone Pale is both a little lighter & a little more neutral than School House White. But it also sits a little more anti-clockwise towards the Yellow-Red Hue Family, so by comparison may read slightly warmer with more possibility of peachiness to its warmth. That being said, because School House White is a little darker a a little more colourful, the extra bump of Chroma is likely what you need to bust through any tendency to shadow or gloom in the hallway & still read as a colour. Test both in the more shadowed areas as well as the light. Either can be prone to shifting purple-ish in certain imbalanced lighting situations, so see how they behave for you. Again, of the two, Portland Stone pale may be more inclined to shift.

I’m about to decorate a hall landing and stairs with a bathroom on each floor. I'm thinking of doing the lower dado section of the hall wall in a blue or green and then doing each bathroom in a tonal colour. It's all a bit beige/grey bland at the mo. The hall has a mink coloured carpet, dark wood bannister and white spindles. I've seen a hall with Long Acre by Mylands that looks fab. Does my idea sound whack? Are blue and green cold in bathrooms? Should I paint the mirrored wall units the same colour as the wall in the bathrooms when I decide on the colour? Help

Hi everyone, I live in a rented house and I’ve been given permission from the landlord to paint in ’neutrals’ However I have never really been a fan of grey, but this property is restricted to grey carpets which I will probably stick to as painting is my priority cost now, oh and lighting. I will start purchasing rugs later. I love pale soft and warm colours and I really need to brigten up this hallway its so depressing to see the orange I can not explain despite it being a bright happy colour. Can anyone help? Ive attached a pic of a mood board Ive put together and open for paint suggestions. I need a paint colour that wont pull too grey even though its fighting against the forces of north facing and dark grey carpet.
