Is this a house or a flat? Can you change the two small windows and put windows all across this wall?
Honestly, this is one of the hardest window situations I've ever come across - and I did window dressings all the time.
A couple of options for the bedroom if new windows are not an option:
If you get darker Roller Blinds or Roman Blinds that match, then you can place them across all the windows and lower them all to make them look like three windows that are the same size - then just open the blind over the one window.
Install a curtain track at the top of the wall and over the whole wall in curtains. Then you can pull back the curtains to reveal the one larger window only or all the way if you want to for some reason (more light, etc). If you put the bed on that wall, the curtains can slide behind the headboard. Since this is a bedroom, may I suggest black-out lining for the curtains.
It really all depends on what furniture you plan to have against that wall. I doubt they are going to be left as bare walls? eg If there is a tall bookcase you are not going to be having full length curtains on the tiny windows behind a bookcase? I don't think the small windows need any dressing.
Hello It’s a flat so windows can’t be changed. It’s a bedroom wall, so no furniture will be against it. The bed will run parallel to wall, with head of bed to n right hand side of photo. Both bedrooms identical Thanks for your comments so far
I wouldn't leave the smaller windows uncovered as previously suggests because in the height of summer, the daylight will flood in sometime between 4-6am ... ugh!
So other than the other two suggestions I made for window treatments that will work functionally and look decent, the one other option that seems viable is to build a temporary structure "box-in" (maybe in ply-wood, in a L shape from window sill to ceiling at the same depth as the wall - making sure it is secure) over the two smaller windows. You can then paint the box-in the same colour as the wall - it will then blend in like there are no small windows there - you can then put whatever window treatment you desire on your larger window.
Yes it will block some of the natural daylight out of the room as the larger window is in the corner, but it is a bedroom which is primarily for sleeping rather than day-time living.
Also, when it is time to move out, then remove the temporary box-in, and it won't effect the rental situation in the least.
I think blinds (roller, venetian or pleated) will be your best option, assuming you want to shut out the light since it's a bedroom. I would just pull them down to cover the windows.
