Comments (4)You can use an independent like me - or there are even a few popping up on Houzz too now that aren't tied to a product. That way you work with a designer to get the layout just how you want - then shop around to get it supplied at the right price ! It's a slightly different way of doing it - but some might agree it's a bit kinder to retailers than spending time with them for a 'free design' when you don't really want to buy from them ! This way you walk in to which ever showroom, big or small, and ask for their best price ! Often they will offer to discount your design costs if you ask them ! Obviously if you choose to go ahead and buy from them - most will then pop over to do their own measure up etc ! Comments (8)Thanks for the reply Matthew :) I have been looking on eBay, but I felt that most of the ones on there weren't nice enough to be on display all the time. I don't mind there being a plastic pad on the bottom to protect the floor, but most of them looked like a chrome version of what I currently have, which has a sort of screw in it because it's adjustable. That looks quite unattractive. The solid ones you've linked to look nice but I don't think they'd go with my bathroom because of the curves. How would you go about cutting that one down to size? Comments (10)Thanks all. 1. A carpenter/fitter is coming around on Sat for the kitchen - I'll ask him for a quote for this too. In the meantime, I've been googling/thinking, and saw this from IKEA: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/fullen-wash-basin-cabinet-white-art-70189041/ (& pale green countertop: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/washstands-taps/wash-stands/viskan-countertop-pale-green-art-70354804) I just need to remove a slice of the base at the rear for it to be level with the top of the basin. Hope that doesn't look weird. 2. Will paint the door frame - satinwood or similar. Easy one, that. :) 3./4. Will look at the navy/teal/dark grey wallpapers and paint. Comments (6)I used to have a 1.5 sink. As you say the half was rather useless so when it was replaced I went with a one bowl Smeg undermounted sink (worktops are solid to enable this) which is large enough to fit a roasting pan/baking tray in to hand wash. Most of my items go in the dishwasher. I was always going to opt for stainless steel which is easy to keep clean. Never use a washing up bowl in a sink as they harbour germs and scratch the bottom. I have a boiling water tap so stainless steel was a suitable material as you’re not supposed to have them on ceramic sinks because they can crack. I have never considered a double sink and in all our years of fitting kitchens can’t recall being asked for one. I guess one side is for washing and one for rinsing/drying but that uses more worktop space if you have a small kitchen. It is indeed a minefield of choice....See More
