Garden design help needed
Comments (44)This thread was started by minnie101 in March and her comments at the end of May indicated she may have been by then well advanced in the planning if not the implementation. Doesn't that make suggestions for clearing and early stage design the following January somewhat posthumous? Changing topic to a piece orf growing advice for minnie101: we are now in a new year with a new growing season coming up. Instead of buying new lavendar plants to replace those which are getting leggy annd unkempt, why not look up how to take cuttings from those you have and replace with newly grown, free plants of your own? This will not only work with lavendar but with a huge variety of herbacious plants as well as most shrubs andd, if you have the patience to wait for the results, trees. You need some cheap plastic plant pots and some compost. A trowel would be useful. But you could even use an old spoon from the kitchen and a few empty yoghurt, margarine or other empty, washed packaging tubs with a couple of holes punched in the bottom for drainage. Here's an offer for all you Houzzer folk. If enough people would like to learn how getting free plants from your own cuttings works, I shall write an article for you and post it with a few pictures or drawings for clarity, here on the Houzz site if I can find out where to put it!...See MoreDesigning decking with shed in back garden Help Needed!
Comments (2)I think I’d advise against decking too, at least in the area close to the house as it would need to below the level of the damp course which would involve taking up the paving and a lot of ground works anyway. Decking needs to be raised so there’s no contact with ground but by doing so can create other problems such as make a great nesting site for rats and other rodents, not to mention slipperyness and more maintenance. Not saying it can’t be done and being a party pooper🙂, you could have steel frame and composite decking, just think it will be more work than you’re envisioning. With regards drainage and moss I’m guessing its north facing and doesn’t get much sun? Does water pool or puddle on the paving? Perhaps a drainage channel (see example pic) next to house may work more effectively but in a small area I don’t think it‘d be necessary. Certainly check the gutters for moss but i wouldn’t worry too much about the roof unless it’s really bad. On our house the birds tend to flick moss off the roof and gutters in search of food. You can get porcelain paving that looks like wood, maybe this could be an alternative. Personally I would get some advice from a few local landscapers to see what is possible and look at drainage....See MoreHELP! Garden Design Idea's for privacy & new shed
Comments (14)The highlight of your site can be a small pond. Add a couple of moisture-loving plants to it and your garden will sparkle with new colors. You can also divide the site into separate zones. So that they do not visually mix, use a frame with climbing plants or a hedge. Garden paths will help to add elegance and grooming to the site. In addition to practical functions, they carry aesthetic value. Also, do not forget to equip a comfortable and cozy seating area in your garden. Landscape design should begin with a plan drawing and functional zoning of the territory. It is necessary to indicate the location of all necessary items and sites on the map of the area, taking into account the size. If there are children in the family, then it is important to provide a playground. The playing area should be located partly in the shade, partly in the sun and without drafts. The design of technical premises requires a serious approach. It is customary to locate a barn and a compost pit near the garden. If it becomes necessary to heat the house with the help of firewood for their storage, an additional building is erected. Firewood sheds can be adjacent to the barn or located at a distance - in the second case, they often perform a decorative function Add nformation https://sirinsoftware.com/industries/consumer-electronics-solutions/...See MoreOdd shaped double triangular garden - Need Help with design
Comments (14)A few things strike me. Firstly cutting that grass with a lawn mower not a strimmer should be a lot quicker. My front and back lawn must be about is at least 150 square meters and my teenager can do the lot in less than half an afternoon. Anyway, if you really hate doing it, that’s probably a pointless comment 😂. However, £7000 could probably buy a lot of hired lawn mowing service or a robotic mower as someone mentioned. Secondly, I know Sonia’s garden looks lovely and you probably think you couldn’t do it but I bet you could. Keeping things alive in planters is much more difficult as they will dry out more quickly, run out of nutrients and constantly need refreshing. If you gave yourself quite a deep border into the point of your garden (where you currently have a tree in the diagram) you could plant some decent size shrubs too that would probably only need an annual trim. I would also consider growing something up the fence to soften it a bit. Maybe your bottom right green circle could have a water feature in it? Or something to give a bit of height like an obelisk to grow climbers up. I wish I knew how to add photos from Houzz for inspiration. Otherwise, I think your mock up looks lovely and your seating area within easy reach of the kitchen will be great. Just out of interest, where do you get the sun most?...See Moreeve
