I have OCD especially when it comes to sizes and placements, so for some it might not matter, but i like symmetry in bucket loads. If I were purchasing a mirror i'd go 5' to 5'6 leaving 6-9 inches either side of the mirror to the end of the couch. ( i prefer the 5' ). Then you can double or triple the distance from the mirror to the wall sconce. ( So i'd have a 5ft mirror leaving 9 inches to the end of the sofa, then 18 inches from the sofa to each sconce ). I think when you place them on the wall, you'll know what looks right for you, afterall, everyone's different.

Hi Wayne, Do you still need some lighting advice? The sconce would be a good idea for when watching T.V, as it will create a relaxed mood. I would advice to keep the existing ceiling lighting as an alternative, with a separate switch, due to the lack of light the sconce can provide. You could, perhaps, replace the ceiling lighting with similar style to the sconce? What particular style do you like? Pendant lighting could go very well in your study/snug room. Also, an image of the sconce would help. I would be happy to help you.

Hi, have you seen enamel shades they sell a lot of the components needed for making your own lighting and they have the Rigby fitting you show above https://www.enamelshades.co.uk/search?page=1&q=wall+light The idea acew1234 mentioned of using a rigid flex is a good one as a pendant hanging close to wall will hit off of the wall when doors are opened or people walk by which could damage both the shade and the wall.
