Depends where you're getting the handrail from and in what style. Some wall handrails have stock (inexpensive) ramps which would turn the handrail into the wall at the top and bottom you could then channel the handrail to take the wiring to the wall to be concealed into the plaster. Hello Stella, Okay.. Well I would say that you could have pendants given the size of the room and if you're not having overhead extraction on the island for example... Also there are many other things you can do with an island that doesn't necessarily involve lighting at all.. You might want to hang your pans for example.. It's not a prerequisite to have lighting here. Interested to know what the Tropical garden window splashback is.. but don't forget a pendant can be a cluster configuration of a single drop. They look really gr8 at differing heights and 3 or 5 could be fantastic. In this way you can actually create something bespoke.. Things to consider are that beautiful bulbs that can be a feature in themselves... Scale... Large expansive, vs smaller. Then textures as this can create interest... Also colour... can you pick out the splashback somehow.. You can do this kind of thing with 1 ceiling rose and multiple outlets.. Have interesting cable and hooks... For other ways to illuminate which I can shed some light on... : ) ) no pun intended are wall lighting.. consider something more interesting than a spot or the usual suspects.. : ))

whirligig, yeah.. ive been thinking the same thing like u did.. im dying and i love it too but i know it looks like too crowd from my ceiling because I still have put the LED light on the ceiling.. but however i still want to put something above my dining table becuz i when stand on my dining table, it looks empty and I feel missing someone.. lolzz xD thank you again for your comment..

Hi Melissa, It does depend on the size of the space but in a kitchen approximately 4 x 5 meters 13 no. 50 watt equivalent LED bulbs (approx 500lm) on dimmers if the ceiling height is between 2.3m -3.5m should be sufficient to light the bench tops, although the light fittings you have chosen do concentrate the light over the bench top as my understanding is that you are removing the spot downlights is that right? The pendants take an E14 fitting, so you are limited with the lumen output with the bulb type. In terms of light depending on the size of the room it seems fine if it isn't too large and tall a space but my fear for you is that the light will be very concentrated and uneven across the room which might give you real contrasts across the space. Intuitively I feel like you should keep the spots on a separate ring with a dimmer and a stronger 3000K or similar 500lm LED (soraa do amazing ones with accurate colour rendering) and use the pendants as decorative and functional for lighting above the bench top, but definitely put them on a dimmer too. The pendant light fitting itself also won't shine any light on the ceiling, so you will split the room and the top half will stay dark. I think the wall lights are lovely, but again you have chosen architectural lighting which will look beautiful but wont be particularly practical. The strength, colour rendering, colour and output of the bulb you choose will be critical. Make sure you test a few out! I hope that helped you! Apologies if I miss-understood anything.
