minsterstone fireplace

tried everything to get rid of stains. should i paint affected area ?

    Never paint stone. Have you tried sanding it?

    the hearth is cleaning up with sanding. unfortunatly the stains either side of fire are not budging.

    Sorry to hear that Gordon. It’s obviously a very porous product, as is solid natural stone. I wonder if it is worth trying a product with low ph as used to clean natural stone? I’m clutching at straws here! Or paint with a masonry paint. It’s not solid stone so why not?

    This paint is specifically for stone fireplaces. Their page has lots of good reviews with pictures of the finished fireplaces.
