In theory if it's a floor paint it should be able to handle the moisture. I would recommend an oil top coat just to make sure but I'm confident as long as it's a genuine floor paint moisture won't be a problem. It's a lot of work if you want to strip the floor boards etc but my real concern is the finish as it wouldn't exactly be waterproof

We are still working on our new house, there is currently a bath with a glass half screen that is totally useless. The water bounces off whoever is showering past the screen and over the toilet, the floor, the ceiling, and it's only a half tiled wall so the wallpaper is peeling. I've considered the P or d shaped baths which give a larger section at one end in which to stand when using the shower and I've seen there are matching curved glass screens to go with them. Two points to consider. 1. If you are not planning on staying a shower could be a good selling point, the water saving of a shower versus a bath. Our last bath hardly saw a look in during 16 years and although it was a lovely deep double ended steel bath it gathered dust and the shower was definately the go-to choice. 2. I am now considering the usability of the bathroom for an elderly relative who has had a stroke, likes baths, but may not be able to get into, or out of one, with dignity intact. I'm thinking that a large walk in shower with additional wall jets could be a good option and the upscale could be a wow factor. Although you may not be in the same position you can never have enough forward planning.

Bathroom - reckon on £3/4k for labour, £30 sq meter for tiles, £3k for white goods but you could easily spend 3 times that on the goods and a lot more on labour. Say £8k? Kitchen - reckon on £5k for all the labour and prep. Tiling the floor could be more expensive if you need it plying. Appliances could be anything from £1,500 to skies the limit - say £3k for decent quality. Worktops - from £400 for laminate to £4,000 for an expensive quartz or granite. Furniture should be around £4k+ if you buy decent quality but you might speak to a salesman at Wren who just happens to be able to offer you a special discount the day you go in because err, it's a Tuesday or something so that would mean the furniture costing not £8k but £4k... oh... Anyway, reckon on £12-£14k for the kitchen.

oh my goodness, Sarah, I'm in love with these tiles from Milagros. They are beautiful! I think I will call them tomorrow to check their lead times. Thank you for pointing me to them. Nicola - you know, I've not been into hexagonal tiles, but tonight I tasked my husband with looking at some tile inspiration and he picked out some hexagonal ones. Not so keen on the ones with the stripes, but I love the colours of the plain ones. If they were arranged in a randomised pattern they could be so fun. And they are so cheap! I never thought that the tiles would be the hardest thing to choose! 🙈 Why is that?! Hope you find something you love soon.
