I agree. To put the sink and the hob both in the island would be tight.

Where is the oven? You need the hob, sink, oven and dishwasher all on the same side of the island. If not you will be walking around the island from one to the other while cooking/clearing up. Make sure you have plenty of space on the island for food prep and appliances such as food processor/ mixer etc.

You will be doing laps of the island with that layout. You could put the sink and dishwasher at the corner of the island near the table. Is that a sliding door on the wall into the TV room? If not maybe you could put your hob there at an angle?

We're is the fridge freezer?

It would be best if you could do a rough sketch of the floorplan with measurements of the walls/doors etc

Personally I don’t think an island suits this kitchen because you will always be walking around it. Personally I would be considering putting all of the tall units together in one run and then have the sink and hob on the same L shaped run. This would replace the island with a peninsula

It does all seem a bit spaced out like this. My opinion would be to keep the hob on the island where it is so when you are cooking you are looking out on to what I presume is the garden/outdoor space and you can also see in to the TV/snug area. I would keep the ovens where they are but also position the sink along this wall if possible ( I presume you will be taking the floor up to run the water waste underneath?). I would not try and squeeze the sink/drainer in to the space in the middle of the tall units as this will not give you room to put anything down when taking it out of the oven. I would potentially only have 3 tall units on this wall and maybe keep them all on one side so the space does not look too overcrowded? So you could have a tall housing for a larder, the other for a fridge/freezer and the other for the ovens? For the units on the opposite wall under the window I would keep these all as base height units (no tall units) to help to open the space up more especially as this will be a high traffic zone with people walking through to the dining table and through the doors to the outside space.

I see your point about only having 3 towers and having the sink on that side.

another problem we have though is that the electric consumer unit is also on this wall on the right hand side! So that would need to be covered by a pantry unit

Oh I see right then it is a good idea to put the boiler within a tall housing and to integrate the washing machine within this as well. The peninsular like Jonathan has suggested would work well in this space but you could switch it round so the peninsular is on the opposite side so you can still have the housing for the boiler and the washing machine. The consumer unit is a lot easier to hide and can easily be hidden within a wall unit.
