Agreed, ideally I'd like to strip the beams to a more natural colour, but I think that would cost a lot, so I'm thinking about painting them white or light grey and then all the walls white..the ceiling is currently peach.

I also think that painting the beams and ceiling would help. A white ceiling with taupe coloured beams would look fab. I love the kitchen (I used to have a very similar one!) - however would you consider painting the units? A stone couloir would look lovely.

What a lovely space. What are you wanting to change? I personally love the quarry tiles, love the brick wall as they bring in warmth and texture. I would look to create some temperature contrasts to balance things out such as painting the walls and cupboards (walls off white, cupboards warm grey) and lightening the ceiling. The colours you choose might depend on the worktop colour and if it's cream or white.

I agree to paint the beams, it will make such a difference. White beams and a white ceiling will make it fresher and brighter. Taupe for the beams as suggested by Sarah would also look good. Here’s a couple of pics.

Devol Kitchens have this gorgeous kitchen on their instagram - I think it’s in their showroom. It shows similar (but painted) cupboards and a terracotta tiled floor. You could easily recreate this look!

This space is beautiful. Lighten the room up painting the wooden kitchen doors, change the interiors to lighter/brighter tones, paint the beams though we like the beams! Character of the house. Remove the black fridge/freezer into a different room or purchase a white one. I would suggest painting the brick walls. It is too dominating and this would be cheap and easy to do. Could you get some new cushions and table runner in a light coloured fabric? I do think the fridge also looks very big. Is it need of replacement any time soon?

Its a great space.

I quite like the floor but there is a lot of it and its a bit flat looking, you could add a sisal rug under the table to break it up.

I would also sell the black fridge and replace with something smaller, lighter and more discreet and a pale coloured bin too. Not a fan of the brick and think painting or plastering over it would create a sense of space and light. Maybe add some rustic mirrors to bounce the light around?

The table is quite dark and heavy so again you could look at other options, though it does sit nicely with your other furnishings.

And as others say, painting the units and beams will also make a big difference.
