Does your storage cupboard need to be in that position? Just thinking that if you could shunt your cloakroom along into it then you could access your laundry from the back wall of the loo. Hope you see what I mean. Then, if you lengthen the laundry into the kitchen space a bit you would be able to have a run of cupboards/units/equipment on the left too. Then you shorten that narrow utility wall on the kitchen side by having a run of cupboards/larder or what you will on that side too. Might give you a more practical use of space in the kitchen.

Hi. A loft conversion is a great way to add space and value. Assuming you can do that (depends on height of loft) you will need to create a corridor on the first floor to get to the stairs leading to the loft. the corridor should be on the right side as you go up. the bedroom on the right will be cut into 3 parts; 1 part a corridor, one part will be added to the small bedroom at the rear and make it bigger and the last part will be a new bathroom on the first floor. This way you cancel the shower room on ground floor and replace it by a small toilet. On ground floor, turn the kitchen, bathroom and conservatory into a larger open kitchen with an island. Hi Alice, you're on the right track! The layout of your flat is quite rigid and there isn't much that can be done within reasonable effort (and price). You might also consider removing the wall to the stair and moving the first steps towards the toilet. This will further enlarge the space. Hiring a building company would of course increase the cost by 15-20% but if you don't have any experience in construction and project management, it is by far the most sensible thing to do. For a price tag, even a rough estimate, we would need quite a few more details about the existing house, furniture, finishes.
