Any ideas for window covering on this long window along the stairs
Comments (25)Hi Am following this thread with interest - I have windows like this throughout my house and am finding it really difficult to decide on suitable treatments. On the upside it means the house always looks light and airy! We currently have a series of temporary roller blinds downstairs which work pretty well, but in the bedrooms we have curtains - although they now cover the radiators so not keen as a long term solution. Would also like to have blackout in the two main bedrooms. Does anyone know if extra wide roman blinds are available anywhere? We'd like an unfussy look. Suggestions and pics most welcome. Thanks....See MoreWindow dressing idea please!
Comments (5)Would you consider Plantation Shutters? They can be made to measure, are great for privacy and great to keep Heat from escaping! People commonly think they can darken a room, however if you opt for white, they are highly reflective when they are open- and stream light across the room. californiashutters.co.uk are very reasonable and show you how to measure and fit yourself. We fitted these in our own home, and are thrilled to bits with them! Good luck!...See MoreIdeas needed to improve exterior please - porch & windows! :)
Comments (4)I think it's safe to say that the crux of the matter is the 80's extension roof. If you're going to the trouble of a new extension then the roof needs to go and then both bits tied in properly. The doorway through to the back garden is too close to the Front door, and the roof is larger than that of the front door. They at the very least need to be identical sizes, or preferably under one roof the same pitch and proportions as that of the garage. The porch needs to be grander and centralised. I'm no expert plan drawer by any means, but i did a mock up of what i had in mind, the rest would be down to the architect and budget....See MoreIdeas for this feature window please
Comments (9)The stained glass idea and the shelves idea are brilliant. If the glass now in your window is original, i.e., poured glass (wobbly), you might want to think carefully before replacing it. In that case, the shelves would be a better option. I particularly love the look of the coloured glass vase display as it would catch and reflect the light so beautifully And you could rearrange the display as often as you like....See MoreSonia
