Kitchen window sill ideas please

I am really hoping someone can help. Currently fitting our new kitchen. The sink is under the window. We will be having glass splash backs behind the sink and all along that wall (more of an upstand than a whole splashback). What do I do with the window sill? I think a wooden one would look out of place in a modern kitchen. But the splash backs won’t be going as high as the windowsill. Has anyone got a clever idea please. Thank you

Is the window sill higher than the counter? Could you put in a new window where the sill is flush? I think the flush sill in the link below looks great, check it out.

Thanks. I can't personally better my original idea. The layout the planner suggested does work but it would be nice to go more contemporary and have a change as you're spending all the money. In terms of my proposed layout I have attached pics from the globalmail and innatcascade just to give an idea of layout. You could try just a straight run of units along the back, as 15 ft is quite a bit with a long island, and move the FF so it sits behind the glazed double doors and obviously move what I assume is a utility door (I think there's room). If you don't like the bench idea, a round table may be better as it saves on space so you could have it more centrally located. You could also consider having the hob in the island and move the sink.

I think your idea of having the table by the window is spot on. Maybe do a u shaped kitchen with an island extending into the middle of the room, you could also have a run of tall units to the right of the door, with a fridge and larder cupboard.

Thanks carolins. I think I like the idea of seating at the peninsula or island so might do without the far side cabinets apart from maybe one on each end as open shelving to hold kids books etc to start with. The window is still bothering me cos I've now noticed that it's higher than the level of the patio doors and utility door so am thinking of making it smaller. Is that something people do? Is it expensive do you know? If we made it 90cm wide as well rather than 112 then the island or peninsula might fit better with it rather than having part of the window overhanging it?? Also not sure about a sink in a 90 unit cos it takes up quite a lot of the width but do you think the length of the unit run would make up for it or if you put the sink at one end there'd be space for seating, homework etc without fear of being overrun by dirty dishes or water from splashing sink...

I absolutely love the idea of it being flush but unfortunately the window can’t be altered. I do like the idea of the same material as the worktop though. Hopefully this will work and also make it waterproof etc. Thank you

Same as worktop or oak if the floor is oak. Just make sure the edges are crisp and it doesn't overhang by more than the depth of the glass.

My friend has a granite worktop, and the fitters continued the granite up the wall behind the sink, and used a piece of granite as a window sill. Very easy to clean and very smart. Something like this
