Hi all

Hoping for some help and inspiration. We refreshed our kitchen recently with gray units and a white countertop.

I am left in a dilemma with the flooring. We need a thin option so tiles are out. Our options are either thin LVT or paste down vinyl. Has anyone got any ideas for colours of flooring please. The hallway is warm coloured laminate but my kitchen is not open plan. I have added some photos.

Maybe a wood effect vinyl would be good? It could bring a bit of warmth to the space & there are lots of good options in either sheet vinyl or LVT. If you wanted, you could still go with a grey toned wood effect.

What a brilliant idea, extending the worktop to half the depth of the fridge! Without this detail the fridge would look awkward, but this way looks perfectly integrated. Congratz!

We had Polyflor installed in all bathrooms and have taken the decision to do the whole of downstairs in it also. I have 3 small children with lots of energy that like to run round the new open space. The thing that swung it for me having paid for a number of full size samples in Karndean and Polyflor was how slippy the Karndean was compared to the Polyflor. Also the Polyflor doesn't catch the light and reflect the same as the Karndean.

Hello, my previous flat was very similar except your bedroom at the back was the kitchen and your kitchen was a dining room. The main problem with the current layout is when you have very young children and you’re in the kitchen preparing food, you can’t keep and eye on the children or talk to them whilst multi-tasking. If you don’t mind me asking, are all 3 bedrooms currently occupied? If not and only 2 are occupied, I would use the back bedroom as a dining room and can also be used for the kids to play. When you come to sell, depending on how many children you have then, you could always carve up the living room to make a very small bedroom on the left. These flats are great when there are only 2 people, it just gets a bit challenging when the family expands. Also you don’t want to spend too much money renovating if you are going to sell in the future.

Can you take pics showing the whole room.

Also, why does it have to be thin? Why can you not have your tiles, if thats what you want?

I’ve heard nothing but praise for LVT on Houzz, so a good option, although I’ve never used it. I have sheet vinyl in my bathroom and it’s great - tough and non slip. I think a wood effect would be nice as it will add some warmth. Oh and they are warmer underfoot than tiles. Here’s a few examples, including a patterned one which is not to everyone’s taste but I love it!

Thank you all for your comments. I will have a look at the warm ranges in LVT. @ Ellie can’t have tiles because the previous owners laid sheet vinyl over the original stone floor and the floor is already quite high. Since we only did a refresh and no major work, we have been advised to have thin flooring because of added height of tiles
