Looking at your ideabook, you're definitely not after the industrial look with your bricks! This is a more toned down colour scheme which is light and airy and still has warmth to it. Maybe you could add pale grey tiles or splashbacks similar to the worktops in this kitchen. Are you adding flooring just to the kitchen or is this part of a bigger renovation project? Hi Claire, When you’re looking at concept planners or interior designers I would begin by looking at a selection of people. It’s important that you find someone who you get on with (that are on the same page as you from the start), as the entire process goes on for quite some time and you go through a lot with this person. It’s also important to get a few quotes and make sure you get lists of what you get for your money - as almost every pro does things slightly differently. They should all start, as Jonathon mentions above, with an in depth at your requirements and needs for the space as well as the property itself. Having all this information means we can then tailor a layout specifically to you and how you’re going to use the space. I personally begin by offering 3-4 different layout options with pros and cons. This gives you lots of choice and helps you to think about the space and to analyse it more clearly. I hope this helps. Hi Pete. Firstly i'd establish what the walls are like in the Conservatory. I'm guessing that it was just an ordinary conservatory that's had a 'proper' roof put on it. Thus, as per Jonathan's plan, this would remain a separate entity unless you re-build it as an extended area, due to the walls being insufficient to knock through because they are single skin. If you have the budget for a proper extension, this may mean knocking down the conservatory and starting again, as it could prove to be cheaper, you'd need to get a builder to have a look at it. Your second design may well not be possible due to the position of the drains, which are undoubtedly out to the right. Do you want to keep the shower room? It would make for a better layout if you could convert it to a utility area. Thus, as Jonathan says, there are many, many ways you could lay this out, but it depends on the budget, the conservatory and what you want out of it really.

Hi all, Firstly, thanks for all the previous help! Due to cost and the discovery that the wall running the length of the house is load bearing (I know not a huge surprise as it runs the length of the house, but it did sound like a stud wall however it was breeze block that had been dot and dabbed), we are looking to retain that wall but knock out the downstairs WC, together with that entire wall between kitchen and hallway. So effectively we will have 2 sides to the house if that makes sense - the living room will remain as is, and then the kitchen will be another big room with staircase and the side and rear external doors. As we would still like a feeling of open space living, we would like to incorporate a dining/lounge area around the bottom of the stairs (the area that is currently the hallway). I am looking for any help and designs to this effect please! We are going to get rid of the downstairs WC entirely for now so please don't include that in any designs - We may later block off the rear door and put it there/under the stairs, but this could potentially be done at a later stage. Also, any help/designs on how to furnish/lay out the long living room would be appreciated too! Thanks again, Andy.
