If you want to use a darker shade personally I’d pick the end wall. It looks as if it may also frame a view? They look to have used different colours for the remaining walls and ceilings in the first pic but personally I’d keep them the same to accentuate the ceiling height.

is there a fire going in? If so (and in budget) you could use a pale brick or split tile etc (I personally find the dark colours break the room up). You could also tile the opposite end wall in darker tiles (using the dark colours on the short walls will make it feel wider, that’s only relatively speaking as it’s an amazing room and size!!).

It would also look amazing in the one colour though!

I think it depends on what is going on that wall on this side. It's such a statement wall that it needs to be quite bold in my opinion.

Thanks for all your suggestions. We are putting a cassette stove on the living room side and will tile around it. It’s such a difficult one on the colour of the wall itself, we are thinking Hague blue but I also think the dark colour might break the room up. It could also work well. The suggestion to put the dark colour on the end wall could be an option for us too and something I never considered. So much to think about🤔

Awe, I am sorry. You have a FAB contemporary space to work with and all these anxieties will melt away as you see your choices come to life, one by one. It’s just the process can be painful en route!

i would paint the walls wimbourne white. this is what i did with my hague blue kitchen. best decision i ever made was to paint the walls white. looks fabulous.

I am thinking of using Hague blue for my kitchen cabinets and white marble/quartz for the island top, splash back and over the counter top. The rest of the walls will be red bricks to match the extension wall. However I am a bit clueless what to do with the chimney top as our stove will be going inside the chimney but. I was thinking of putting quartz over it to match the island but not sure whether it will look too much? Advice/ suggestions welcome

Having just completed opening up our kitchen and room beyond we have gone through the same process of finding colours which suit mixed use space. We looked at a lot of blues and greys, even a flirt with reds, but came to the conclusion that they looked old hat. Final decision was F&B Babouche for sitting area (a glorious rich yellow), and again above the cabinets to link in with the kitchen. Kitchen cabinets Lulworth Blue lower cabinets, Wimbourne White higher ones. We are delighted with the result. it looks fresh and vibrant after all the dull grey years. Great thing about paint is that it can easily be changed in time to come! just go for it and enjoy!!

Lovely shape kitchen - this will be fabulous to work in! You could consider tiles to the ceiling, perhaps in slate. Or a dark paint that can be used for scribbling on in chalk (blackboard paint never necessary for this and difficult to use!). Or a photo wall in white.....or a huge brilliantly coloured work of art or wall mounted 'light sculpture' (see TimMB.com).....lots of possibilities!

I would go for the deep yellow for a lift.

I agree with minnie101on the end wall, Sapphire salute would look lovely or a mustard to complement the navy and gray.
