kitchen colour help

We are about to move house, me and husband are divided on the kitchen. The tiles are grey which is fine, but the cupboards and walls are a cream colour. I hate cream lol. He doesn’t want to paint the cupboards white (we have done this oncebefore). Would it look too odd having grey tiles, cream cupboards and white walls?? Not an option to buy new cupboards lol

Hi Emma, congratulations on your new house! Looking at your picture closely, I think you could paint your walls a pale blue or a darkish blue to bring out the cupboards and also add a bit of depth to the kitchen. It will also look quite modern as well. Alternatively you could paint the doors as long as you use a primer.

I know it sounds funny but a pale green grey would works well with the cream as it could bring the tone of cream down to make it feel more white. Here are some examples for you to see

It would still depend on the tone of your grey wall tiles as if they are a more blue grey i agree with Rukmini Patel Interior Design that a blue would work well too. Here are some Farrow and Ball colours that could work and you can get sample pots off to test. Which you can then colour match to a dulux or a valspar paint

Yes Jonathan, it’s really annoying. They won’t do any amendments to the layout despite it being impractical and dangerous in parts (cupboards directly behind doors that swing back etc) So do you think the light worktop in the bottom picture or the grey worktop in the top picture? I’m just worried about the overall feeling being dark as it’s not a bright room (neighbours brick wall 1m from window!) I really prefer the light one, but I can’t convince myself it won’t look weird with the white tiles...

I would definitely go white! You've got great texture and color already with the elements you have listed for the room. Let the white be a striking backdrop for the stars of the show. From the picture you posted the cabinets look like a white-ish color. So having a bright white wall will show off the lovely grey tone of the cabinet with some much needed contrast. I recommend Sherwin Williams High Reflective White, SW7757. It is the truest of white with no tint of green, yellow or pink. Just an impressive white. :) I wish you success on your fun project!

@Carolina I like the colours in the photo you've shared, they look more neutral than grey which is what I want. Do you know what colours they might be? To give you more of an idea of the space this photo is taken from the kitchen end of the room facing away from the kitchen and I've added Amitco Blonde Oak added using their clever room visualiser (we want a wood effect LVT which brings warmth to the room) . You can see we do have the dark framed doors (anthracite grey) which might help tie in a dark island, although they are some distance away. Was also thinking of going dark blinds in the bay window, such as these double roller in iron grey. But maybe better going for Navy if we went with @Juliet Docherty's suggestion of Basalt 221 We're having Quartz worktops and wanted to keep it white with a subtle vein, so something like this. This was my attempt at a mood board which I put together many months ago when starting the project.
