@Victoria My main concern is whether the tumbled edges of the new tile will look weird in the treads up against the straight wooden inlay. Also I am assuming there might be a lot of tile wastage as couldn't put a cut tile edge next to a fresh tumbled edge (tiles are 900 x 600). Just wondering if a more creative solution - i.e. do we go for an easier to manage smaller more decorative tile in the treads or is that going to look bananas?

Hi, Looking for some advice on our downstairs layout. We have 2 front doors, however neither have a useful entrance area and there is no hallway into the large, unused "lobby" area in the middle of the house. We're considering how to create a more useful entrance and hallway, with just 1 front door. Our initial thoughts have been either adding a porch extension to the central front door and wall in the office to create a hallway. Or moving the staircase. No idea what would be involved in this or how to find out whether it could be done! The utility and downstairs loo also need reconfiguring as the loo is too small, could potentially take some of the lobby space. Apologies for my very rough drawing on floorplan! Hopefully it gives an idea. Appreciate any suggestions!
