Despite having to deal with the pipes I prefer the shorter cabinet. If boxing in isn’t something you want then could you have the pipes recessed into the wall. It would be cheaper if the boiler isn’t already there. Or you could box in along the full length of that wall bringing the cabinets forward a tad or up to the cabinets. In essence creating a false flush wall.

Failing that the box wouldn’t be too big and will disappear if painted the same colour as the wall. You could have the quarts upstand fitted around it but I would prefer to reserve that for the window wall and tile the hob wall because hobs cause a lot of splash back.

I prefer the shorter cabinet as well. I think the visible pipes can be relatively easily disguised or will blend in once any countertop items are placed next to it.

I’d suggest down to the countertop. It frames the job and makes the wall cabinets either side of the hood look symmetrical. You could also box the hood in a cupboard for a more seamless look.

Thank you for your lovely suggestions, so many ideas to help me choose what will work best, I do agree with the taller cabinets so it dosnt look odd, but that is not possible to do as cabinets has been ordered already.

That is a good point suggested by Ellie. I have always had cupboards up to the ceiling because it gets so dirty up there and is such a pain to clean. Not a help now that you have ordered the cupboards! However you could perhaps fit small cabinets on top or finish up to the ceiling with pseudo cupboards. It would be more streamlined.

Of course that doesn’t resolve the pipe problem below! I will be interested to hear what you finally decide to do about that.

My boiler is in a tall cupboard that is not sitting on the worktop. Although it’s tall it doesn’t reach the ceiling but my builder did create some air holes at the top for ventilation. My kitchen is small so I need the worktop space and I can fit the microwave and toaster under it. The pipes are boxed in.

Thankyou all, i decided to go all the way down i still have storage inside the bottom so can store other things too out of the way and sight. Im having the upper bit covered like Keiblem mentioned shall give more sleek finish.

if the images you've attached are accurate then your designer hasn't allowed for any infill between the boiler cupboard and the wall, if you have the boiler cupboard sitting on the worktop and its a single door then you won't be able to have the upstands as the door won't open. i think the only option you have is the smaller boiler cupboard and box the pipework underneath and run the upstand around the boxing.

Lifestyle Kitchens: That’s a valid point you have raised. Very often it is details such as this that, if missed, can throw a spanner in the works.

If you went with the smaller cabinet - you could add a shelf below the other cabinets (with a vertical side to close the sides by the oven) that are level with the bottom of the boiler cabinet. Google cabinets with shelves under - could get a really nice look.

In my kitchen I've a service void in the corner and put in a tambour door to overcome the issues with practical access and coverage.

I hadn’t heard of a tambour door so had to google it. I hadn’t realised there was such a thing except on security doors. You live and learn.

Hi. Definitely have 900H x 350D x 600W boiler unit and wall cupboards that are also 900H x 350D so they are all in alignment, height and depth. This also gives you more storage in your wall cabinets. The pipes below can be tiled over or upstands run around the boxing in to match the wall (painted MDF looks like plasterboard). Hope this helps x
