sun tunnel blind

Hello

I would love some advice or even a link to a product!

I want to put a sun tunnel in a room in my house that I plan to use as the lounge but if I do an extension in a couple of years (which I am hoping to do) this will become a bedroom. Is there such a thing as a simple blind for sun tunnels?

Hi there we installed a sun tunnel in our bathroom and to be honest it hardly makes any difference, personally I wouldn’t waste the money.

Interesting, thanks. The room faces north with a lovely valley view but its in line with the roof apex so I am only going to do it if I can get it on the south slope. It's a bungalow too so hopefully not too long a tunnel!

I will keep this in mind though... :)

Hi Tracy, if you're after the best of both you can get shutters on a gliding track (see below) which look really nice but note that this can be quite an expensive option. Alternatively you could vertical blinds or even rollers which can be kept out of the way when you want the window exposed or even hung outside the recess if required. Hi, Craig -- it's true that a sun tunnel is cheaper, however it really is very different to having a velux, which lets in a huge amount more light. And there is nothing like actually being able to open it, as even the best roof extractors aren't that powerful. It does depend on what kind of sun tunnel, how big it is, etc; if it is to have clear or frosted glass, however if it is possible for you i would absolutely consider the velux.

I would try to avoid a sun tunnel to start with to see if could be tweaked with paint etc. I would be tempted to paint both the red wall and the wall with the hall door one colour to unite it as a cosy space. It's impossible to pluck colours out of our heads, they have to be tested rigorously as light changes everything. Rooms starved of light will look greyer if painted white, and lack of light makes F&B greys look a bit too grey. Something subtle but with some colour may help, could be a dirty browny pink or a soft 'hay' colour. What is the other colour on the pale walls?

It’s important to know how much light you will get coming through, just don’t hold out too much hope for it to really light the room, we dont have windows in this room at all so maybe if you have windows already it might help a little.
