Thanks. Yes, it seems to be hard to find. I have one company who say they'll make ecoboard carcasses for us. But they are the only ones I've found so far!

For sustainability you could consider using the units from a second hand kitchen? Eg the Used Kitchen Company, or sometimes kitchens are sold on ebay.

Thanks so much all for the suggestions. Yes, encouragingly lots of companies make sustainable full kitchens or just sell sustainably made doors to add to existing carcasses/Ikea carcasses, and I've contacted some of these guys already... But it's just the carcasses we want as we already have doors and it's the chipboard carcasses we're keen to avoid, which is what most high street kitchen versions are made from.

I'm back! I've just found a supplier of FSC pine kitchen carcasses. My understanding is that pine/solid wood for carcasses is not brilliantly stable. Has anyone had any experience either way? :)

Hi Kate, they’re not meant to be great as the wood can obviously expand and contract with the changes in humidity and warp etc. However, I inherited a very old handmade pine kitchen (26 years now 😂) which we painted when we moved in. There can be issues with some of the drawers sticking (probably more due to age or overloading!) but I really haven’t noticed anything else. I also inherited an Aga though which is permanently on, so not sure if that helps keep the wood more stable??!
