Beige seems a good way to go. However, headboards are easily changed with a piece of material sewn like a big pillow case, then you can change with seasons/mood etc: fuchsia, green, tapestry, silks, all those things that look great in the magazine but you wonder how long you can live with. Also good if you every want to move the room around and you end up with the bed against white instead of blue walls. Just in case you're like me and can never ever make up your mind.

Hi, I would love to see the end result if you do have any pictures.. My room has no real wall to put bed against.. one alcove is 100cm.. the other 120cm however it slopes where roof is, the goes into a large L or maybe even a L and another backwards L.. Did you just get the bedroom chimney breast taken out and/pr downstairs too?

I agree with Daisy - attach a piece of MDF in the desired shape to the current headboard, cover it with foam padding, then cover is fabric, using a staple gun. However, you can buy some lovely headboards ready made which you can use instead and much less hassle!
