Sorry I've not been back on this thread until now - work is mad busy at the moment ! But didn't want to leave you with nothing ... So started a doodle to see if maybe you could add some more space and have a sight line through from front door ... But to be honest - need to know so much more to really help - properly - it's beyond the realms of a thread on a chat site ...

I used FB modern emulsion Elephants Breath and just white tile paint a one coat one from Homebase. I know I haven't used the right paint for the shelves but it's been on 4 weeks and still looks great. Here's a couple more photos of the rest of the house completed on a shoe string.

Hi Heather I dont think it is a Cooke & Lewis kitchen but we brought a couple of their integrated doors from b & q doors for our new appliances and they look the same. The painter just wiped on Owatrol ESP and left it to dry for a few hours, it says wipe of on the instructions but you shouldnt wipe it of. He painted 2 coats with a leyland mix oil based egg shell paint. We wanted a matt finish as apposed to a shiny finish. We left the inside of the cupboards the same colour. Here is the kitchen 1 year later it still looks as good as new.

Jonathan is spot on. Remove some of the wall cupboards and put up shelves, change worktop and tiles. Then paint cupboards, although wooden kitchens are making a comeback! Luckily the cupboards are shaker style which never goes out of fashion. There are companies who spray paint kitchen units and even some who will do a whole makeover, but I’m not sure of costs. Updating a kitchen is a wonderfully eco thing to do, so well done. There is someone on Houzz Advice that has done something similar to her kitchen and it looks amazing. I’ll see if I can find who it was. Here’s some inspiration pics to keep you going.
