My friend has a house which sounds a simular layout to yours. When you walk in the front door you have the lounge door to the right and stairs and kitchen door directly ahead. She extended the back of the house behind the kitchen and dinning room about 4m, knocked the kitchen and dinning room together and put a wall up between the old dinning room and lounge. She now has a wonderful big sociable kitchen dinner. She has French doors one end (where the original dinner was) with the dinning table in front of them. It's a lovely space with room for a breakfast bar and a 2 seater sofa near the dinning table which backs up to the wall which now divides the lounge. I personally think double doors would have been good to separate the lounge and kitchen but that's because I like the idea of being able to have the whole space open when entertaining, obviously down to personal choice. I don't know if you have a garage but she divided her garage and put a utility room at the back of the garage and the front of the garage is used for storage. She also has another extension off the back of the garage about 6m which gives room for a WC and a kids playroom and she has a door off of that room leading to the garden. It's great as the kids can go from their playroom to the garden without going through the kitchen.

Hi everyone! Can't believe this post was from last year! We still have a couple more things to add before completing. Working full time and having toddler is taking up most of my free time ha! Anyway we went ahead with the original wallpaper we chose, when it was up we weren't too keen on it but we loves it now. The walls are painted in pale grey, a large plants added by the dining area and we have changed the dinning chairs. Do you think we still need to dress the windows and french door? Hubby didn't think we need to? Here's the family area which still need some work on. The only thing we've added here is the rug haha! Will change the cushions once it's all finished. The mirror will definitely need replacing as this one doesn't compliment the wallpaper. I've set my eyes on this mirror but just slightly concern that there's so many different colour of woods in the kitchen, or does it not matter? Still contemplating whether we need to change the large poster frames to white and add a side table by the small sofa? What do you think we have done so far? Any recommendations or advice is welcome :-) Thanks, May

Hi rinq, Thank you so much for your time and suggestions. We do actually need a 6-8 seater and that's one of the reasons we are getting a new table and were thinking to get something that would add some warmth and cosyness to the living room. Do you think perhaps a rug under the Mango table would solve the orange shade that might clash with the flooring? Also I do like the second table. However, our preference is more towards warmer more earthy Colors. Are there any other Color chairs that you would suggest? Thanks again Meli Thanks
