Anyone used RAL7006 (beige grey) on windows and doors?

5 years agoHaving just googled this colour, it looks very similar to a colour used on lots of new expensive developments around where we live in Cambridge. Personally I think it is really classy and the bronze colour is definitely warmer than anthracite.

Comments (24)Hi emham, there's nothing wrong with a little beige here and there but too much can certainly 'wash out' the character of a room. Don't feel you have to overcompensate by using bold colours or patterned feature walls; it may feel dated within a few years and we humans get bored quickly so giving a room the flexibility to change every six to 12 months without a great deal of expense will give you much more satisfaction. If you are set on painting the walls then perhaps consider an 'antique' or 'off-white'; with good ambient lighting I find these are always the warmest colours. If you're going to go bold then keep the upper part white above the picture rail, its less oppressive on the mind! Gloss the woodwork, freshen u[p the plaster covings and let the period features speak for themselves. For a real burst of colour hang paintings, add textured cushions and throws on the furniture and add a bit of natural warmth with plants .. lots of green plants. A 'soft' central feature light with the correct energy efficient lighting can change the room's ambiance, along with wall lights, table and floor lamps. Depending on your budget, you could strip the carpet back and hope for a wooden floor beneath, but if you haven't the time or budget for installing a reclaimed wood floor, adding a colourful rug over the top of your carpet will do just as well and you could always replace the fabric window blinds with natural wooden shutters for that natural wood feel. Comments (15)Both Ral 7032 and 7044 would look great. I would lean more towards a concrete grey which would be the 7044. I think it would depend on the exact colour of the red brick - if it is dark l would go light and if it is a rather pale red l would go darker. Comments (15)@rinq natural wood would have been nice if we had wood windows but unfortunately they are all white pvc, doh! I like the white with the dark navy theme though and I can add in black and some greenery and other colours into the room in decor to liven it up a bit. *****I just have to choose a carpet colour now!! The griege I was going for doesnt work with the navy - makes it feel a bit drab. To my mind anthracite or black windows can look good IF they are done well - they look good when they are good quality windows with modern flat profiles, fitted to a house which has had proper architectural consideration. The problem now is that all the cheaper upvc double glazing companies are doing them with thick frames and chamfered profiles, and they can look clunky and old fashioned rather than sleek and considered. Our sliding doors only came in 4 colour choices, so in the end we have gone for RAL7021 (a soft black) for those - on the modern rear extension - with RAL7006 (beige grey) aluminium composite windows elsewhere on our 1930s house. The sliding doors are in and the 7021 does look really good, almost invisible as the frames are very slim, and I think it works because it's the very modern extension. The windows aren't in yet so I can't comment on how it's all going to work together. I am keeping my fingers crossed...! Our windows will be Velfac which are alu outside, painted timber inside and you can choose different colours for interior/exterior. They weren't as expensive as I thought they were going to be, so it's worth getting a quote for aluminium composite windows before you decide....See More
