The pictures are all showing as really tiny on my screen. But yes I imagine if you're going to clean the stone then it would be a good idea to clean it before making a final decision. Door colour might depend on which direction the front door faces. I saw a lovely pale pink front door on a period cottage today, which stopped me in my tracks, it was so lovely! It was south facing and worked very well with the sunlight on it, but may not work so well in a north facing situation.

Hi! Thank you so much for your comments. I'll replace the photos with bigger ones. Our house is north-east facing. The pale pink sounds lovely but yes you're right I'm not sure it would work well on a north east facing stone house.

Lovely house! I think the white window and doorframes suit it perfectly, copper guttering would be a very classy addition, and a yellow front door would look fabulous.

Beautiful house. I think grey windows would look rather bland. much better to have a contrast to the lovely stone. Step away from the grey! I think simple white windows would be more In keeping, but those sage green ones that Rinked has shared would be perfect with the style of the house.

Hi colourhappy, Thank you so much. Great suggestions but I think the stone work on our house is in a cooler palette of greys than than the ones on pics you posted (warmer/beige stone work). I love the ones you posted thought, this is what we are after in terms of look and feel - but I'm still having doubts as our house looks very grey and a bit austere to me so I still can't decide..

Yes you're right. I think an acid yellow front door would be fabulous with the grey stone and the roof....and the flowers. Maybe the windows can stay white?

Im all for changing the colour of the window frames and door - rinked’s first one with sage green looks lovely. I have also seen in a village near me a house with cream, and another with taupe both of which are stone houses (Yorkshire - quite a cool “ wuthering heights” palette )- or go bold and go black.

Instead of yellow for the front door - which is always a bit stark and sea-sidey - how about a mustard colour?

Absolute gorgeous house, and I suspect once the stones are cleaned, and a few colourful plants added, it will look a dream.

I also like @rinked’s suggestion, bearing in mind that over time your copper guttering will patina, a bluey/green colour will go well during the changes.

Maybe paint the windows to match the stone grout and the door in a statement colour.

Would definately keep the windows white, against a newly cleaned stone they will look great, i am loving the sage green front door and with perhaps matching planters eaither side would look really smart, absolutely stunning house though x

If you're going to get the stone cleaned, I'd also have that modern cement based "hard" mortar taken out and replaced with a lovely lime mortar; that's how it would've been built; it's kinder to buildings and much more in keeping, but then the windows and extension aren't in keeping, so perhaps no need to be a purist... But those mortar straplines are very harsh. I'd stay with white windows or the sage green and contrast the door with either a dark blue if your windows are white or if sage, then the same colour. If not use Colourhappy's last photo suggestion all round. Nice and warm and mellow.
