Hi. It's hard to tell if this will work as I can't tell the door width but what if you were to build a ŵall to wall bookcase on the desk ŵall incorporating both the tv and radiator? Ignore the design of this one, was just showing a pic of one against a window, You may need to widen the pillar by the dining room entrance slightly. Perhaps ammonite by F&B for the ŵalls with a floor that picks up one of the tones in the table. I'd also paint the coving in the ammonite and a darker shade of grey for the bookcase. Have a 6ft sofa (allowing for side table and lamp) opposite the bookcase (not against the ŵall) with a chair angled in front of the bookcase and perhaps go for an upholstered stool on legs as per your inspiration pic. You could use Romans on the windows, maybe in a vertical stripe and then use geo patterns for the cushions. Re lights I'd add ŵall lights to the bookcase and a flush for the living room, preferably just 7 inches high. You can afford to hang something lower over the dining table. Are you keeping the tall cabinet? I think your current table will look lovely with some upholstered chairs

Eggshell paint is recommended for metal and woodwork. Personally I prefer a wipeable Matt paint. I think you go with the brand your decorator likes and that way you have a happy trade. And lastly I think a brilliant white paint will look awful in that room- really cold and clinical. I understand the instinct to go white in a windowless room but it doesn’t work, it doesn’t make it lighter. Instead I think you should choose a paint colour that looks good in electric light. Given it already has a lot of white in there I would avoid any watery blues. Yellows can look bad in electric light and are unflattering in the morning. I would choose a mid or dark grey with either a brown undertone or green quality. I also like teal and very dark blue or chocolate brown.

In theory the sage and plum should work really well but I agree it's making your lovely kitchen look rather drab. A quick search on Pinterest shows the majority of sage kitchens looking their most fabulous with whites, like Sonia suggests, (brilliant or off white) or cream tones.

Linen White is the lightest of all and belongs to the Yellow-Red Hue Family. So that peachy/pinkness you notice is an inherent part of its colour DNA. It’s not a very colourful colour but it still has enough Chroma for you to notice. Ash White + Chiltern White are both light, near neutrals from the Yellow Hue Family. Ash White is both a little lighter (higher Value) and more neutral, (lower Chroma) than Chiltern White. Personally I would still want to sample whichever you choose, to see how it behaves in your space. They may well appear the light near neutrals you imagine them to be, but both have the capacity to shift and look a little lilac in certain imbalanced lighting.
