How to make a single bed

Super random but after several google searches I can’t find anything on how to make a single bed in terms of bedding and cushions? As the colder months approach, I want my bed to feel ultra cozy and luxurious however I’m not sure on the basics. How many pillows and cushions? What size pillows and cushions? How many/what material of throws? How do I add in an accent colour? Bear in mind where I live we just use a duvet and throw. Thanks in advance! P.s pictures would also be super helpful!

Hi Ashy! If you wish to get the ultra cosy feel I would suggest you invest in the best mattress/duvet and linen out there! I tried the best mattresses and pillows ever from a company called Hypnos, and spectacular bed linen from Beltrami (Italian brand).

Should you wish your bedroom to look luxurious I would say for rectangular pillow (2 firm and 2 feather pillows) and 2 square pillows.

In terms of colours, I would stick with a clean and fresh colour palette, say crispy white, light caramel or taupe

Have a look on YouTube, there are some great tutorials about adding stuffing to the cushions to pep them up. There are also companies who make replacement foam infills for sofas either online, or contact local upholsterers, if they are open.

I was one of the original poster. Eventually in our case, building control wouldn't allow this - they originally OKd the plans, but then wouldn't allow the removal of the ceiling from the box room. There was a "galleries" approval that we explored but they weren't having that either.

It would still be a great idea to have comfortable sheets, for your own comfort! Depending on how cold it is where you are something thermal even. A duvet with the appropriate tog and a material that feels warming to the touch. As well as your pillow that you sleep on a couple of cushions would look inviting, I'd do one in front of the other and ensure they are varying sizes. Add some texture to your bed so definitely a throw is a good idea something chunky knit perhaps or something super soft to the touch. Have fun with it!

Hi v_lavender, The design you currently have looks great for adding lots of usable spaces, but not necessarily adding enough space to the most important rooms. Here are a couple of quick designs that I came up with. I thought the angled side wall wouldn’t add anything and make it more complicated for furniture placement and roof construction. So I’d suggest the walls be made perpendicular with a step to allow side access. The utility and shower room are smaller so that you can walk straight from the hall into a larger Kitchen/living/dining room suitable for a large family. Upstairs the shower room is made smaller so the front bedroom can be made larger. The rear bedroom continues further back over the ground floor extension to give a master bedroom with a little balcony. However, I realised that this still leaves you with 1 small bedroom which might be undesirable for fairness to one child. So Concept 2 enlarges the master bedroom and incorporates the existing small room as a dressing area. This gives you 4 equally sized rooms and 1 generous Master bedroom suite. Please let me know what you think? I have a few more alternative ideas as well. And I wish you all the best with your extension project!!
