I like the look of the windows but was wondering if they open?

Hi there - in this particular design, the windows do not open, but everything we design is entirely bespoke. We could design a similar conservatory with any combination of windows that can be opened or not. Why not request our brochure for further inspiration via https://www.davidsalisbury.com/

You may be able to get this made to order from a window and door company. You can have cat / dog flaps fitted in glass, it doesn't have to be wood. We have one for our dogs, you order the flap, give it to the door company and they order it with the hole needed for the flap, which you then fit. I can't see why they couldn't put an openable window in it. If you're set on wood, then i'd just get a carpenter to make a window to fit the door and then re-glaze the portion underneath. I once put a stained glass window in a front door, if it's wood it's a lot easier to make all sorts.

Ah we are doing something similar and have the same dilemma. After discussions with our architect and numerous image searches I've come to the conclusion that you can either have the frameless look as per your pic (but it will be fixed shut) or an opening window, but then more of the window seat structure needs to be solid, otherwise you end up with too many frames and it starts looking like a greenhouse. As regards the opening window, a pivot window doesn't work as too much gets in the way of the seat. We don't want bifold or sliding due to the line. We are going for a framed window looking out to the garden which hinges down one side - the frame won't be super thin but I will live with that. Fixed glass on one side of the seat. Solid down the other side (where the hinge is) and solid roof.

I ordered French doors for an extension from architects drawings and had no problems. They were a good company and the doors went in perfectly. If you wait till the building is done you will not be able to progress with the rest of the work till the doors/ windows are in place.

Sorry for the delay Victoria. The Building Inspector actually came back with more information yesterday, and has asked for me to send the window with a few details to them and he will confirm. But it very much seems like 800mm is the one as you suggested so thank you. They sent me a PDF the same as this link which explains in more detail a few scenarios for window heights and guarding. I will message on this thread again if he comes back with any reason why 800mm is not ok. He did mention in his email that parts K and Parts B sometimes conflict, so it can be very scenario dependant. Cheers
