Bedside table and lamp??
Dear Houzzers,
I am stuck - I am overwhelmed by all the apparent variables in choosing the perfect bedside table and lamp combo for our new bed…
We’ve gone super king with this beauty from Simba (who knew they sold beds, too?), but it’s been weeks now and we can’t seem to close out a decision on a spot for our water glasses, pillow sprays, books, etc.
The house is a 100-year old mock Tudor, but this room is looking very modern with its slick bed frame upholstered in a deep inky blue velvet. I love the mid century look, but many tables / cabinets are on the small side and look like they might be lost next to the bed. I would put in a whole wide chest of drawers but there isn’t space for the same on the other side, and we don’t actually need loads of drawers on account of some well thought out fitted wardrobes.
I’d like a wooden unit, preferably with brass touches, with at least one little drawer and a shelf, so the top surface can be for the glass of water and the lamp.
And then the lamp! Well, my challenge is the not insubstantial wing on the headboard, which is 35cm deep. The lamp needs to be easy to operate while in bed - I’ve even thought about a clapper!
Houzzers, I beseech you - help!

The plan now is for a grey carpet and light grey walls. Need to consider contrast. Bedding will be white. Likely to tone bed colour down (either white wash or Annie Sloan grey). Comments (85)It looks great, I'm glad you and your daughter are so pleased and she has lots of room for friends over, playing etc. It can also be easily and cheaply adapted as she grows if she wants. My only criticism (if you can call it that) is that if not already your daughter may soon also want the desk to double up as a dressing table and therefore I think a mirror was a good idea but the memo board (which looks great) can always be moved as and when needed. Would something round work better so you can pull it away from the wall and (hopefully!) access the light? The 2nd pic is the Penelope by West Elm
