kitchen cupboards with vaulted ceiling
Comments (7)Elainer, This really would depend on the style of kitchen and the colours used in the space. Seamless cupboards for example can seem far less imposing when they are larger/taller and can give you all the storage you need. There are also lots of ways and types of cupboards you use that are very flexible and accessible. A modern contemporary kitchen is much easier to be able to achieve this but there are still things that can be done if it is a more traditional space. The amount of light that bounces around also makes a big difference as to how crowded a space can look and what colours are best to use. As suggested, a 3D render of the space would really help you see the overall effect and allow you to play around with the space. I offer a package for 3D's like this as I feel it is really important to be able to see and feel the space before you have any work done. I would be happy to go through this with you if you want to get in touch. Regards and all the best with your project, Gina...See MoreLighting for kitchen / dining room with vaulted ceiling
Comments (9)Hi Julia, it's a bit difficult making suggestions from a distance without seeing and 'feeling' the space but you have several options... pendant lights are certainly one, as Pavilion Broadway has suggested. You could have several dotted around the space, even hanging them at different heights - which could be fun. Alternatively you could use LED strip lighting around the room - this gives a very modern look and of course could be used in conjunction with other types of lighting. The attractive vaulted ceiling means you will be looking up at it so you don't want to be blinded by spotlights pointing down and remember you'll occasionally need to change bulbs so whatever you install make sure it is accessible. Depending on how you decorate and furnish the room you could consider a variety of lighting that works from the floor upwards. I think we are too often stuck on the idea that lights have to come down from the ceiling. They don't. Hope that helps but will be happy to discuss further. Best wishes, it looks a super project. Comments (2)Example here. Our 1950 terrace has 2.3m ceilings on the first floor, so when we took out the smelly old hardboard, we decided to sacrifice half of the attic to gain about 70cms height and paint the joists offwhite. I was just hanging our curtains when taking this photo, which are actually the same color as the ceiling, but sunlight makes them look yellow. So my suggestion is to add some interest to the ceiling (or a canopy bed?), as 4m is quite a lot when lying in bed. Oh, what also helps is a (slightly) darker ceiling....See MoreVaulted/sloping bedroom ceiling paint advice please
Comments (7)I think you would actually be ok with taking the color over it all. It probably depends more on how you wanted the room to feel. The current lighter tone gives space to the room, but your selection Oval Room Blue, would probably give you a more intimate feel. With white items such as wardrobes etc, it could end up giving a coastal feel which you could build on as a theme with linen bedclothes, lampshades, blinds....See Moreminnie101
