Need help for my enlarged bedroom - Part One
Comments (25)Hi Denise I have just ordered shutters for my house for all the front windows which is costing around £1000 and roughly 8 or 9 square metres I'd estimate. However this is for DIY install shutters from the California Shutter company who have been recommended by a friend who uses them regularly, they aren't arriving until first week of December so I can't vouch how easy they are to fit yet!. They're prices start at £125 sqm in the sale at the moment. http://www.californiashutters.co.uk/ Take a look at Nina Campbell's Pagoda Garden fabric it's similar to your original accent fabric in the photo, although I don't have a sample to hand just now. It looks as though it has the stronger bluer tone you need to stand up to your walls. http://shop.ninacampbell.com/nina-campbell-fabric/autumn-2006/pagoda-garden.html I recommend a sample of a velvet or woven chenille for your footstool such as Osborne and Little's Peregrina F6350-07 or Canaletto F6142-10. These are contract fabrics suitable for upholstery which I can supply. Also Osborne and Little's domestic fabric Brehon Linens in F6520-20 is really gorgeous with lots of blue tones in which I feel would complement your scheme. Finally Sabi Addo F6272-08 is a really luxey light reflecting velvet and Rondelle Takarshi pictured here: http://www.osborneandlittle.com/products-and-collections/fabric/autumn2012/rondelle/tarkashi?id=2c149a3fd57045fd971eb480ac6a2b06 is a beautiful cut velvet for amazing cushions or throws if you are looking for that extra wow factor! If the blues become to silvery or yellowy you could always add in a neutral colour as I have done in my Coastal Scheme if you look on my profile. Just ask if you need to know any fabrics you see on the pictures. Hope this helps! PS I also supply Nina Campbell fabrics so if you need samples quickly please contact me rachel@spiniverdesign.com or 01637 621038 Best of luck I know how frustrating it can be! Comments (9)Hi. Pretty much any colour will go as beige is neutral. I've just had a look in your Ideabook and you seem to favour neutrals with maybe a hint of purple or pink. I'd do something like the Oliver burns pic. Try Dulux just walnut for the walls. Go white for the bedding then add cushions and a throw in the mix of grey/beige and the mauve. I can't really see how the curtains would hang from the pics but if there is limited space to draw them back then don't go too dark on the curtains but keep them neutral. Add a patterned cushion to the chair in the mauve (can this be positioned elsewhere?) and also a light rug with lots of texture under the bed. I agree would add bedside cabinets and lamps....See MoreHow to make my bedroom more cosy / glam - help?!
Comments (25)You could put bedside table next to the wall on the left and install a shelf above the heater and that can be your bedside on the right side. The room will look more balanced with the bed in the middle. Or if you can position bed to face your built in wardrobe. Either way you need to address the window covering. If you can find a heavy curtain and bedspread in the same fabric and hang curtain directly under the cornice and twice as wide as your window, that will give you the height and balance the window size and by matching fabric you will have continuity and avoid miss matching colours and patterns....See MoreBedroom decorating scheme advice
Comments (73)I think the lighter fern fabric for the curtains would look very nice. And then linen, hessian, grey with pink warm undertone for the walls and ceiling, that the curtains almost blend in, and dark tone black shade for the window frame and the door. You can paint the nightstands black (if I can convince you to add a crystal knob. Alix’s pax handle looks really nice on black) and black low bookshelf in the corner where you have your shelves now, but window height and tour prints above it . Are you keeping that desk in your bedroom or is it for your daughter’s room? You are keeping it, put it under the window with your table mirror on it. Hessian fabric on the wardrobe door and paint the ridges black also. I would go with hessian fabric outside of the glass, it not entirely sure how difficult it is to do, tbh. if You put the fabric inside the glass you’d need to use a transparent glue. You are very good with diy, should be able to do it. If the fabric goes outside of the glass it will have a very different effect from the one if it goes under the glass....See MoreJonathan
