Double Headboard- Single Bed

I have a double headboard that came with a matching dressing table & bed side cabinet, so I want to keep it & use it- but only really have room for a single bed. I have attached it to my current single bed but it does have a funny overhang each side...any ideas on how I can make this look 'right'? Thank you :)

Hi - stunning headboard! I think it would help to know the room sizing and where this is going to sit in the room? Can the headboard and bed be centered on the wall? If so you could look to add some wall hung shelves at the base on each side of the bed attached to the bedhead. It looks like the back of the bedhead is white so if you painted those white to match it would blend in and feel part of the whole bedhead itself whilst balancing the sides for symmetry.

Just be aware (and you may know this already), drum kits upstairs can be very difficult for those sitting downstairs. I'm not talking about the general drumming noise but the base pedal. When our kids are using it upstairs it sounds like they are going to come straight through the ceiling. We have sold up and have bought a house with concrete floors. On other subject, size of bedrooms is just as important to some people as number of bedrooms. I would knock through. Alternatively, is there room for a platform bed/mezzanine?

Hi all, My OH has asthma so air con is not great for him as it’s very drying so we can’t have it - but we also want to use the room for a working out in and for a spare bed so we would still have to get a space saving one anyway. It was hot all Summer and I didn’t sleep much :0( - mostly because we don’t like a warm bedroom and don’t even put the heating on on Winter, lol. Our downstairs North room was much cooler and bearable so hence why we want it for those hot nights when we can’t sleep ;0) good idea re the head board ie could probably make one myself that maybe hinges out or just two panels we hook onto the wall when we need them. Murphy would give us loads more floor space though so would be much more versatile. Even if we just bought the mechanism and eventually build a cupboard around it ourselves (most of the prebuilt ones aren’t very nice)

Is there space to move the double bed around so that it is lengthways instead of horizontally? I would keep the double bed rather than two singles. Even if you have a single guest they are more likely to prefer a double bed than single. If size is an issue you can get small double bed from IKEA. As it is a guest bedroom very little needs to go in here like bedside tables and lamps. If you are short on space I would add a simple shelf or hanging box-like side tables. Add small lamps or two hanging pendants which would look fantastic especially with the height of the ceilings. It will accentuate the length of the walls and draw the eye upwards. Sarah- I have tried your idea of pushing my bedside cabinet up against the side, but due to it having feet & a bed base, there is still a gap (see picture.) The other issue is I dont need a bedside table both sides.ὠ4 But its definitely an improvement!

Den Life- thank you! Please see the bedroom plan below...the red outline is roughly where the bed is situated now. I guess I could make it more central on the wall. I really love the idea of screwing wall shelves on either side of the bed head...that's got me looking for some nice vintage ones to match! That just might be my answer- thank you!

Ah you are very welcome! Yes it does look like you could center it on that wall then and add shelves. If you can't find vintage ones you could use new wood and paint them to match and add some decorative finishes to it. Places like ebay sell great little additions along the lines of these:
