Double Headboard- Single Bed

I have a double headboard that came with a matching dressing table & bed side cabinet, so I want to keep it & use it- but only really have room for a single bed. I have attached it to my current single bed but it does have a funny overhang each side...any ideas on how I can make this look 'right'? Thank you :)

Hi - stunning headboard! I think it would help to know the room sizing and where this is going to sit in the room? Can the headboard and bed be centered on the wall? If so you could look to add some wall hung shelves at the base on each side of the bed attached to the bedhead. It looks like the back of the bedhead is white so if you painted those white to match it would blend in and feel part of the whole bedhead itself whilst balancing the sides for symmetry.

Would putting the bedside table next to the bed help to balance it out?

Hi l don't know where you could get one as you describe. I made a double bed base with the end open so a stow away bed was stored under the base had a Valance with kick pleats. when the stow away bed was out it was the same high. hope this helps. Regards Bob

There is a house locally that has submitted plans to do something similar to what you have planned. They both had double storey extension with shared ridge. They plan on having a straight drop from the existing ridge and their new extension to have a new ridge in the middle, separate from the neighbours. Not sure that I can share a copy of the elevation drawings on here (that have been approved) with out breaching architects copyright.

I don’t think this is good Feng Shui but I’d go for mirrored wardrobes to make the room feel bigger and make sure storage is taken up to the ceiling. I’d also look for a storage bed that’s on legs as it will make the room feel visually a little larger than one sat straight on the floor. Not sure if this is your thing but taking influence from the photos and alto saxophone I’d go for something with influences from the jazz era (or nearly!). A tufted bed would be great and will make a statement. If in budget I’d look for taller bedside tables (height of mattress, this is from Rockett St George as are the lights) and taller lamps, ideally when sat up the base of the lamp shade should be level with your chin). I’d look at a muted emerald green feature wall and add texture and pattern with warm neutral colours and a faux fur throw, pink would also look good but you may not be keen (!) or a deep teal/petrol blue. Maybe a brass starburst or molecular light over the bed as you can afford to hang it lower. A palm print blind could work and would also add a plant for the bedside table

Ah, it brings the memories flooding back! The heady days of stessing about my kids' sex lives, ie trying to prevent them from having one ;-). My daughter did take her first double at 16 as a cue to start bringing boys back. Just a warning!

Sarah- I have tried your idea of pushing my bedside cabinet up against the side, but due to it having feet & a bed base, there is still a gap (see picture.) The other issue is I dont need a bedside table both sides.ὠ4 But its definitely an improvement!

Den Life- thank you! Please see the bedroom plan below...the red outline is roughly where the bed is situated now. I guess I could make it more central on the wall. I really love the idea of screwing wall shelves on either side of the bed head...that's got me looking for some nice vintage ones to match! That just might be my answer- thank you!

Ah you are very welcome! Yes it does look like you could center it on that wall then and add shelves. If you can't find vintage ones you could use new wood and paint them to match and add some decorative finishes to it. Places like ebay sell great little additions along the lines of these:
