Radiators on window walls?

Looking for some advice about where radiators should be in a room. We’ve just moved into a Victorian semi and all the radiators are under windows. Thinking about curtains and would prefer full length so wondering what others have done? Is there a reason they’re on the window walls? Thanks in advance.

Decor Books That's a wonderful radiator cover. Where is it from? Others in this stream have said that radiator covers reduce the heat in a room but I've heard others say it doesn't - the issue is that it takes longer to heat up a room. On that basis, I'm tempted to cover a radiator in my sitting room as even if I paint it it's intrusive and I could really do with the shelf above it to add interest below pictures.

I wanted shutters in my house but again, far too expensive! I ended up going for white wooden blinds with 50mm slats and tapes. From the outside they almost pass for shutters and look very smart. I got mine from Tuiss but I believe they have now partnered with Blinds2Go. From memory they will send you samples of the slat and tapes to pick your colour. Then I would possibly use dress curtains to soften it,

"If you've already installed them, what are you going to do?" Nothing, because I love them! I thought it would be interesting to show that there is more out there apart from the ubiquitous industrial column radiator As regards other artwork, we are not planning on putting much else on the walls apart from one tall slim picture on another wall which reflects the same shape. But there is still a table and a couple of sofas to go into the space. Thanks for your comments - It would be boring if we all liked the same thing.

Hi Lizzie. We moved into our Victorian townhouse nine months ago. None of our radiators were under windows. I honestly have no idea why all of your windows are. I have the same dilemma of how to dress the windows. We have a large bay window in our living room and it's a busy street with alot of people passing by. I was thinking of getting those stickers that you can place on the bottom bay windows so we can look out but no one can look in. When it's dark outside and the lights are on people will be able to look in and see us. I will have to decide blinds v curtains for nighttime.

Hi. We’re exactly the same. We’re thinking we’ll also get a full length voile on an inside track that we can open or close. We’ve also decided to move all the radiators.
