Hi there, you are right, the shelves next to the alcove would block the access, so I don't recommend that. Since this is a dressing room, I assume you will want to have a mirror in there? So how about having a full lenght mirror next to the alcove and then some hooks to the left of the mirror for handbags and accessories? Install the shelves in the wall opposite the alcove (taking into account the door and the window) and again install hooks on both sides of the shelves for accessories. Please note that the shelves don't have to be very deep, I would go for 30cm deep shelves. Take advantage of the the space on top of the alcove and put a wall to wall shelf there. You can use this shelf for items that are seldomly used, but still need to be stored somewhere. Kati

Hi quick sketch attached which hopefully will get you thinking on non standard options to avail of the triple aspect and views. The bed is centred on the West facing window, so even though there isn't symmetry in the rest of the room, balance is created, focused on the bed. I've shown a freestanding headboard behind the bed - something along these lines....there are design options available which means no need for a bedside locker to the side. I've stolen a small amount of space from the adjacent bedroom (sorry kids!) & pushed the entrance door back into the hall slightly. There is no door to ensuite, but the curved wall which becomes part of the shower creates an entrance & cuts of what you don't want to see (the wc) but allows light in, views out to and from the North. This curve also creates a natural line to change floor covering - say from carpet to tile. Theres approx 5m of wardrobe tucked under the eaves with curved ends (if budget will allow!) and also His & Hers drawer sets either side of entrance door.

Morning! What a great creative exercise! First question - do you need this radiator to work? If not, then you could just turn it off and hide it at the back of a wardrobe (cut out a panel to get it in), or have it capped and removed rather than relocated. If you do, then Hannah's idea to have it under a dressing table is great! Warm toes too! There are a few things I recommend doing when you start a walk in wardrobe design - the first is to list the contents of your wardrobe currently - and then add some 'room to grow' for items that you see yourself buying more of. This gives you a really good idea of what you need; tall hanging, short hanging, shelves, drawers, jewellery/belts/accessories storage etc. This is just as relevant for IKEA furniture as it is for bespoke fitted units. Next is to consider whether you want closed doors, ie a dressing room, or open storage like a walk in wardrobe. The second may be better for a room with windows and boxings to negotiate, and you can get a joiner to create some divisions for you with rails and drawers for a similar cost to IKEA wardrobes which are a bit more limited in size. Thanks both for your comments! Katlucy - thanks. do you mean have a spotlight adjacent to each 'bay' of the wardrobes to light the contents when you say spotlights on each side? CWD - i hadnt thought about using a track or directional lighting. If ceiling lights were used, how many would be recommended in such a ceiling area? Would three be too many? Am i missing the point here that the lighting should illuminate the wardrobes just as importantly as the room itself?
