Bathroom tile colours, please help.

Hi all,
I am tying myself in knots with confusion over our bathrooms. We are experienced at home room design and diy, this is our 3rd house. But we have never had to tackle a bathroom before and I'm finding it really tricky.
Our style is generally scandi but we're keen to have some colour pops and character rather than purely minimal. Our thoughts were to have plain white tiles in shower and a patterned floor. The only flooring I've been close to settle on is the repeating star one below. However I'm concerned that is just a mix of grey and don't know what colour walls would go. I could be persuaded to tile the shower in a coloured tile instead and then have white walls. But again I'm so confused about what colours actually go with this mix of greys. I'm hoping someone out there had the eye for tiles. We fancy an oak effect vanity to tie in with scandi.
Alternative is the dark blue with white lines, more trendy and can't be mistaken for victoriana but again I'm scared to go for it because don't know how to complement with different shower tiles.
Any advice or opinions welcome. We're under pressure to make a decision soon and I'm finding it overwhelming.

The tiles in your first pic are beautiful. Very Scandi and a modern take on the Victorian tiled floor. I would choose light grey tiled for the shower and off white or pale grey walls. The wooden vanity would go so well.

I know it's bewildering when there's so much choice nowadays. When I had my bathroom renovated, I actually chose the floor tiles first (hex marble effect), and looked for ideas online with similar floor tiles. I had an oak effect vanity installed to give some warmth to what is overwhise a white and grey room. Being fairly neutral it can be brightened up with coloured towels and accessories.

Thanks for the advice Carolina and the example :) I had thought about tiling up to the 120cm mark the whole way round previously. At the time I was thinking about going with a plain white tile so that I could change the colour if I wanted to over time. Once I found the stone effect tile, I hadn't really reconsidered that as an option. I'm struggling to leave any walls completely free as I do want to tile anywhere that could get properly wet with kids around... I should have said in my original post that I'm putting quite a large mirror behind the sink unit and the sink unit will be behind the door when you walk in. I have mosaic behind the sink in the ensuite and really like the style but not sure if I'd get the benefit of the mosaic behind the sink in this room given the size of the unit and the mirror. I'll probably look to introduce some wooden accessories, a large print to the right of the window to balance out the off centre window and (if I don't kill it), some large leafy plants (just like your example) so that in itself might add some interest!!

Yeah, i know re. the plastering but it was a change of plan with the tiler on site. It was going to be fully tiled and i changed my mind that morning to have it 1/2 tiled. Plasterer is finishing off tomorrow. On the wall colour, i was just going to paint it pure brilliant white first (as an undercoat) and hopefully getting rid of the plasterboard green would give me a better idea as to colour. I was thinking a duck egg blue might work (which funnily enough isn't miles away from the plasterboard but a little less green). I'm just not sure.

Hi, you could definitely keep the karndean flooring for your bathroom, this will keep a continuity in your design. Moreover, with the new coatings, there is no risk to put wood in the bathroom. If you're absolutely certain of these tiles then use them. They are visually quite busy so perhaps think about contrasting them with plain tiles as a contrast. My issue with showers is grout and so I would always use huge tiles in showers to avoid too many grout lines. I like these images below with the pattern on the walls and plain floors.

Thanks all for your help. Yes we are only having patterned floor, wall tiles in wet area largish white. I love the look of wood vanity but when we saw it in showroom it just wasn't quite right, being wood effect. When I swapped for blue vanity in my picture it flet better to me as we will have loads of wood elsewhere on house but what others may see as a boring/dull blue is actually quite adventurous for us! I've posted again on my 'final' decision. Thanks for the help. My nerves are much calmer now with all your friendly and wise input.
