Bay Window and mould

My inside wall under my bedroom window and the frame of my window is getting mould build up.

The windows are wet when I wake up in the cold weather, I guess due to breathing and sweating naturally when sleeping.

But could the problem be due to this crack on the rendering on the front outside of the wall under the window.

What would be the best way to check if that is just a surface crack or some more serious?

Do you have heating in the bedroom at all? Do you dry washing in that room. I have mine on very low and turn it off at night. I’ve also had a new window installed last year and I get no condensation at all now.

I do have heating in the room, and I do not dry clothes in that room. I bought the house in 2015, and it has always suffered mould on/off. Only room in the house to do so though.

I have similar dilemma with the small window Which to me looks like unfinish. For addition the window sill that the window is put on is very thin and without insulation. We would say that your best bet is to go with wooden venetians, they come in a huge range of colours and give you that plantation shutter look, but without the bulk or price tag. They can be partly closed in the morning - giving you privacy but also giving you control over the light coming in. With larger slats you can angle the light towards the ceiling or towards the floor. I too thought shutters would block out too much light, but the look when fitted is so lovely, and with wider size slats, the more light they let in. The pics below have small slats but its the same style of bay with shutters. Also don't have the push rods on the front if you want a cleaner look. Having the slats split so top/bottom open separately like pic below is also good if you want privacy without shutting out light from the top. High gloss shutters also reflect light into the room and shutters seem to go with any look, period or contemporary.

Thanks for the replies, but nobody has said if there is a way for me to check if the crack on the rendering is just a surface crack or soemthing more serious.

This is something that you would need a qualified professional to check physically on site, which in this case seems to be a structural surveyor. good luck
