Window dressing bay and side window

Hi, I need some help on how to match a side window to a bay window. I’d like floor length curtains in the bay. As the other window is so small floor length curtains would look silly there, and perhaps a short curtain would too?
So far I think my options are a roman blind on the small window, I guess in the same fabric as the main curtains? Or perhaps Venetian blinds?
Any advice gratefully received!

Comments (21)I too thought shutters would block out too much light, but the look when fitted is so lovely, and with wider size slats, the more light they let in. The pics below have small slats but its the same style of bay with shutters. Also don't have the push rods on the front if you want a cleaner look. Having the slats split so top/bottom open separately like pic below is also good if you want privacy without shutting out light from the top. Comments (11)Hi @Emma Lamb. I'm super up for a reconfiguration, but don't really know what else to try. I've had various arrangements in the past and this is the best yet. In an ideal world, we wouldn't have the furniture all against the walls, but we do yoga in here so we need the space. The two chairs are meant to angle in a little more than they were when I took the picture (after the Christmas mess!), but the one closest to the kitchen really just sits awkwardly blocking access to the kitchen and occasionally hiding the fish tank :( If you have any suggestions of things to move around, I'd be really up for hearing them. I know I want to keep the table where it is as I like to sit in the window while I'm working, the sofa and speakers are also pretty stuck in place due to listening angles, but the chairs, dresser, side tables, storage unit and small table holding the fish tank can all move. I'm planning to remove the fish tank table from the mix when the cabinet arrives, but they are similar in size so I could plan around either just now. I think I will go with Roman blinds and now just debating whether to get them made up or do them myself. The middle window will need more than one width so it will be a lot of matching, but I'm going to speak to the fabric store and see how I feel. Comments (6)It will also depend on your budget as well, as curtains can be quite expensive, especially if they are custom made. I personally like the simplicity of blinds - even a simple voile blind could look clean and elegant....See More
