Hey all,
I'm in London and I recently purchased a 3-bedroom terraced house. The house is structurally sound but needs refurbishment throughout (re-plastering, new floors, re-wiring, etc.). I am also planning an L-shaped loft extension and a back extension.
The quotes I am getting are completely all over the place. I'm going with builders that are either recommended by friends/colleagues or that have solid references (and I have had the chance to visit their work). Excluding VAT, some builders are quoting in the GBP 130k range; others in the GBP 180k range; and a few others all the way up to GBP 220-300k. I've found, interestingly enough, that the builders quoting the higher amounts tend to provide the least detailed quotes.
How are you folk seeing this? I get material prices have gone up, but this is kind of nuts.
