We're also planning on having the evoline pop up on a 2.3m x 1.2m island with corner seating for 4, I have no appliances on the island so will locate it slightly off centre so that it is away from people eating, drinking but can be used by people sitting there or on the other side if someone is preparing food ( food processor etc ). I will also add a socket on the side but if you're plugging in a laptop or phone on a side socket, I'm just concerned that people/kids will walk/run past it and drag the lead and phone onto the floor...panic! I like the idea of a charging station in a drawer though!

I think it will depend on what colour your walls are and whether you want to make your sockets and switches 'a thing' or have them blend into the background. If you have dark walls then the polished chrome sockets and switches will be more prominent, if the walls are light then less so. I have different sockets and switches throughout the house according to how the room is decorated but I can understand that some people would prefer to co-ordinate throughout the house. If you prefer to co-ordinate, then yes, I'd match to your door knobs. Good Luck!

We are having a mixture. Brushed steel in the kitchen to go with the appliances, as they are quite visible at worktop height or in the sides of the island. White flat plate in the hall and drawing room. White plastic upstairs. I agree that it’s better to get white plastic from a reputable supplier which won’t go wrong, than a cheap metal socket or switch which looks the part but will give up within a year, or be a nightmare to fit. Also bear in mind the flat plate ones require a deeper back box (35mm) so if you already have standard 25mm ones you won’t have the flat plate option.
