Advice needed for bedroom refresh!
Comments (5)Do you have any pictures of styles you like that can be pared back in terms of scale? I would make the bed the feature of the room. Invest in an upholstered headboard, either something with a little height and maybe buttoned or an interesting shape. Add cushions and a throw in different textures (and maybe a simple pattern!). I think you also need to get matching bedsides as the difference in height throws the room out. I'd change the hinges and handles on the wardrobe and repaint. Curtains may also help to make the room look cosy, even a single drape on each window pulled back? Paint the room in a creamy shade and add your prefferred accent colours....See MoreSmall Flat - 'Refreshing' Ideas!

Comments (6)Simplyfy, Simplyfy, Simplyfy, Unify the window wall by using say an off white shabby chic Venetian blind full width, or curtain rail full width and parking the curtain over the full right hand wall, possibly curving the rail down the left wall to park that side portion. Or better still do both. Both must be floor to ceiling. The Venetian can be kept above the rad in the winter. Keep finishes and colours light, simple and only 2 main ones, otherwise its too fussy. Lighting definitely low. Beds on left with small bedside cabinet.shelf to right and table light to wash the curtains. Light textured not patterned curtains. Or ditto in centre, but corner light works best as it does 2 walls. No more light needed. Paint: soft white, durable absolute mat, not glossy as currently. Same colour but satin for all joinery. The window wall is too messy to pull out as a colour. Rug: off white, textured, and hiding a lot of the floor. If the flooring is real wood with hard wax finish, overcoat with a whitening finish. Lightly hand sand it and overcoat with a partially white pigmented Osmo waxoil, to get rid of its harshness. Experiment first. Light stalk and rug: remove, too contrasty. The picture immediately above shows how such unification and simplification makes a small room work, but a central hanging light will ruin it at night.. Option: get a bed head in matching fabric, high enough to cover the cill, and pull the bed forward to let the heat out. This will simplify....See MoreSmall garden needing a refresh - your advice please!
Comments (0)Hi Houzzers I'm hoping you can help with some some ideas to spruce up our garden. I’m hoping you can help with some ideas to spruce up our garden. It’s a fairly small area and we’re trying to achieve a few different things – a nice place to sit out and enjoy the sun etc as well as providing space for the kids. It also needs to be easy maintenance! We don’t have a huge budget, added to which we are hoping to move in a few years so don’t want to sink a lot of money into it that we won’t get back. I’m attaching some pictures of how it looks at the moment, including some fence damage from the recent storms which we’ll need to sort as part of this. We’d welcome any suggestions to improve and soften the boundaries, currently there’s a lot of mismatched fencing going on. We’ve found it difficult to grow much at the back where it’s very shady and competing with some flourishing laurel the other side of the fence! The other side obviously needs its fence sorting out. We don't know whether to bite the bullet and replace all of it so that it matches. The patio is a bit old and some of the pointing has come out which makes it a bit unattractive but we can't really afford to replace the whole thing just at the moment. We'd be very grateful for any ideas on the following: 1) how best to cover the mismatched panels on the right (we don't own this fence) 2) how to soften the look of the back fence 3) best solutions for replacing the left (part missing) fence 4) cost effective upgrades for the patio/seating area. Thanks in advance for reading and any suggestions you might have!...See More- 2 years ago
