What age of house is it ? As glass block seem to only really suit a particular age / style of home ?! ..... simply adding lamps with daylight bulbs may be a less permanent solution ?!

Hi. Thanks for your comment. I'm also struggling with the console in the corner of the room, again I'm in love with the lamp but not sure what else I need on that table any ideas? Also do you think the mantle looks to bare? With such an ornate mirror I'm not sure if I need to dress the mantle or not ! Sorry for bombarding you with questions. Excuse the lack of carpet!

I agree with Kingfisher - not enough info to go off. But I'm wondering why the door between the living and dining room, anyway? And do you have to walk through the living room to get to the dining room? Can you make a new, glass door (light-giving) from the dining to the kitchen, say?
