Is it a mixer tap? It depends where you are but I would recommend Grohe or Hansgrohe if you can afford it. My plumber recommends Vado too. I wouldn't buy a cheap tap as it's very expensive to have the cartridge changed frequently on the cheaper ones. If you have a lot of limescale then it is even more important to buy a good quality tap.

Most companies make a traditional looking tap but modern innards. I have Mira taps and shower and very pleased with them. Good quality and various prices from budget to luxury.
